Didn't you know?

UGA and AU will be undefeated, except AU beats UGA in the regular season, while UGA beats AU in the SECCG.

AU vs UGA in the Championship game, with AU winning despite not winning the SEC. The Rant drowns in the irony.

I will say....take away his post season prognostications......his top 25 is the most legit I have seen yet. He actually went by what he saw on the field of play. That is refreshing.

To an extent, but I still count a lot of flaws in his poll.

To be honest, after week 1 is not much different than a preseason poll.

You really believe ALabama is the 12th best team you and him saw this week?I agree they should not be ranked number 1 but 12th?

I don't think bama is a top 10 team after week 1. I easily saw more than 12 impressive showings ahead of bama. I saw three SEC teams have more impressive wins than bama alone.

Doooooo whaaaaaaat? That's ridiculous. I could easily put A&M, Auburn, Alabama higher than Georgia and possibly LSU. (Close) Shoot, if Florida had played they would be in the equation.

Wow.

Honestly now....would this be an issue if Alabama were ranked #1 in every poll?

Based on last year, or preseason expectations of the teams being played?

I'm honestly very curious as to the logic of Auburn beating a former 3-9 team 45-21 as being a "good win"? I keep seeing a lot of people using last year's record for WVU as a reason that our win wasn't all that great (which, make no mistake, I'm certainly not counting it as) but immediately ignoring it for Arkansas. That seems beyond homerism, and closer to flat out manipulation.

Auburn beat Arkansas by 18 last year, and this was no early season game for Auburn either, a bye week separating it from Alabama's 52-0 obliteration of the Razorbacks.

In summation: It appears that last year's results count, unless they don't, because someone doesn't wanna.

This isn't last year. This is this year and a game has already been played. Voters need to vote on what they saw, not what they think will happen in the future....because bama was going to blow out W. Va., until they didn't. That is what is flawed about the past system. That isn't done. There is no way in utter hell FSU and bama should be #1 and #2, which they are in the coaches poll, based off of what has actually happened in the 2014 season.

I talked about this the other day. All hell broke loose when Bama and LSU played twice.. What happens when the top two in the SEC end up playing twice, split em, and meet again for the tiebreaker and NC?

Not a single LSU fan would have had a fricking problem with a best of 3 against Alabama in 2011. That would have been amazing. LSU won in Tuscaloosa, Alabama won on a neutral site, 3rd game played in Death Valley.

Instead "the game of the century" just earned LSU the chance to play in the SECCG and collect a few more injuries, fatigue.. while giving Alabama even more time to game plan and motivate.

This is the argument why preseason and early season polls are worthless for the most part. Everyone needs more info, including Vegas and the so called experts.

That's why there shouldn't even be polls yet (though I understand that I'm trying to keep the Titanic from sinking at this point). No one knows jack squat about any school yet. If Clemson goes 1-11 and Arky posts another 3-9 season, and WVU and Okie State win 10 games a pop, will anyone look back and say "Oh, oops - my bad." Hardly.

Week 6 is the first that rankings should even be entertained. Any poll before that is going to be horsecrap by definition anyway.

Seriously, who should be #1 and #2? Not knowing anything about the competition, aside from taking FCS schools out, what do we set it by? Margin of victory?

To be blunt, if you want to get REALLY technical, the team in the state of Alabama who looked the best last weekend was UAB.

I have no problems with having polls this early, even pre-season polls are fine. Just when the season starts, go by what you see, not what you think will happen down the road. If I was a voter, my poll would probably change drastically, from week to week, until about week 6-8. By then the picture should be much clearer. Like I have said in numerous threads today, and what I have been saying for years, these polls are nothing more than a beauty contest. With pollsters, it's more about the name on the front of the jersey than what has actually happened on the field of play.
