8 conference tournament titles

Of course that isn't the mighty SEC just a basketball conference that had Kansas & Oklahoma in it.

Yeah, one of those programs isn't like the other.

You should probably consider ranking M State a little higher. In just the last 20 years alone, for example, they have 6 SEC West titles, 1 SEC title, 3 SEC Tournament titles, and an NCAA Regional title. Over that same time period, Arkansas (which some people on here feel is the second best SEC team ever) has just a single SEC Tournment title. Just sayin'.

It is funny the way the rant has trashed the SEC for the last several years and then bash history of the expansion teams because "it didn't take place in the big, bad, basketball juggernaut SEC"

Pistol Pete

legit great and loved the movie Pistol about him. probably one of the top 3 college players of all time

Never heard of him. Looked him up. He played 3 years in the NBA. Not sure I'd include him in the "greats" conversation.
From wikipedia-
was named an NCAA First Team All-American in 1980 and 1981. As a senior, he was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year and led LSU to the NCAA Final Four. He graduated as LSU's all-time leading rebounder (1,276) and second-all-time leading scorer (2,080).
Injured his hand in the 91 tournament, never got his touch back. I still think we win the tourney with him healthy, and it definitely affected his NBA career. Pre-injury, I'd say he's about equal/maybe a little better than Clyde "the Glide" Drexler and would have had the same pro career.

legit great college player.eeally a great NBA player.
Tourette's Syndrome really did him in; he definitely should have had a career like Allan Iverson.

out of curiosity, what two guys would you consider putting him behind?

Didn't read the whole thread, but per the OPs system UK has more "points" than all others combined. I believe this would be true even giving the newbies credit for their past and throwing in the former conference members entire history as well.

Of course we all knew that. My question is has any team dominated a major college sport in a conference like UK dominates SEC basketball. Clearly no football team has done this. Perhaps UCLA basketball in the PAC.

You are saying Oklahoma isn't a traditional basketball power especially from the 80's to the 00's? I think some of you guys need to follow sports outside the SEC every once in the while.

Yes it was quite maddening when Mizzou came in with a bunch of injuries in 2012 and the rant basically ignored the fact that since 2000 they are one of the top 20 programs in the country. Same with A&M football. Like somehow Texas, OU, Nebraska, Kansas State are these pushovers that can't compete at the same level as the SEC.

Same with you guys and the SWC. Houston and Texas have been just as good as every SEC basketball school with the exception of Kentucky throughout their history.

How many titles?
OU is the B8/B12's version of LSU with a few more conference titles.

You are right. State has a Final Four also.
Georgia had more success previously (Wilkins, etc.) State should be higher....
