The LSU defensive front is the strength of the defense; we need to turn them loose in this game. Leach will counter will quick passes using picks. We can disrupt the timing of these routes by playing aggressive bump and run; we never seem to do this. Get up on the receivers and get your hands on them early. This is the NCAA, not the NFL. You can still jam the receivers until the ball is thrown.

You do realize man to man coverage is why they whooped your arse last year right? You have a fundamental misunderstanding of the game my man.

I fully agree. Man coverage is the absolute way to go. DBU doesn’t play that weak arse, gimmicky zone defense. They play big boy defense.

I would be 100 percent devastated if they came out in man coverage. Life just wouldn’t be fair. May not get a single first down.

I don't see it being a problem myself. Mississippi seems to be stopping itself these days with jillions of OL penalties and 50 check down passes for 2 yards.

You got this

If LSU comes out and plays man coverage saturday then
coach O and D.Jones need to be fired leaving the field
after the game.

The way you stop a Leach offense is by getting pressure using 3-4 rushers and leaving the remaining seven in zone.

Mississippi State is dead last in rush offense for a reason.

So far they haven’t been that hard to defend. This is not the same msst tram from last year.

Didn't UCLA's OL make LSU'S DL their bitch in week 1?

Any DC that does anything other than zone State heavily is not very good at their job. Memphis and LA Tech are two of the worst defenses in the country and even they figured this out and did a respectable of job of keeping State at bay.

Rogers has been unwilling to take risks and has no problem dumping it off to a RB waiting to get killed in the flats. You don't need to force turnovers to beat State, just make them dink and dunk and eventually they'll do something to get behind the chains and they are screwed.

That said, State is generally a good defensive team and Griffin is an elite returner, so they can hurt you that way if you're not careful. But if you put it in the hands of State's offense, they're just not at the point where they pose a huge threat to anyone good right now.

"The same team as last year" depends on what game you watched. The LSU game was a total anomaly last year, State was terrible offensively outside of that one game. I actually think they are a little better this year but it's not a drastic difference. Still in the bottom half of the league offensively.

On the contrary, we are the most lethal offense when trailing by more than 10 points

Thanks for your ideas again Bo but you had your chance last year. Everybody and their brother have beaten The Pirate playing an effective zone coverage scheme.

I mean Memphis has one of the worst defenses in football and they stopped them.

Copy what they did

Hell… we look like the 2007 Patriots when down 10 with a minute and a half to go.

First of all Roscoe, I actually coached secondary on a state championship team on the highest level in Louisiana. I have more than a basic understanding of the game. There is quite a difference between an aggressive, hands on man to man and the passive man manto that we play. I seldom see LSU defensive backs up on the line of scrimmage who jam receivers right after the snap. We have the talent to do that. By being up on the line you can knock people off their routes and disrupt the timing for pick plays and crossing routes. You could mix in some zone with seven defensive backs on obvious passing situations.
