Never said that coach was wrong.

You also need to keep in mind that these are kids. Kids do not like to be publicly embarrassed and have their dirty laundry aired to the world.

Could say that they have plenty to work on that will be addressed this week.

This could end up being a case of the law of unintended consequences.

It's a saban move that he learned from saban who said the same thing in year 1 at bama.

Seemed to work out fine also.

It's not like he listed off the 30+ guys.

Look, UF has had an entitlement issue the last 4-6 years.

McElwain needed to do that. He has been getting on players throughout camp for selfish behavior and unsportsmanlike penalties. Hopefully at some point they get the message.

First of all...it wasnt 30 players late for a meeting....McElwain said about 30 players showed up and didnt have ankles taped yet and were lackadaisical and I am 110% glad he went into a meltdown at the presser...he was LIVID....Id rather see that than not care whether we won or not.
These kids are the same ones at LSU, Bama, UGA etc etc. but I know Saban aint putting up with it....and either is McElwain.
They need to be shown the door if they cant follow rules or if they are so stupid that they committ penalties that hurt the team. Effort penalties I can live with, but throat slashing from a junior rb? We have two true frosh rbs behind him that are nipping at his heels to play. What are the odds they will committ a senseless stupid act after scoring TD? I betcha they never will. Our rb is a legacy but I dont give a shite...he should know better. The 15 yd flag gave ECU much better field position and they score TD after we kick off...what if we would have lost the game?
Id thrown them under the bus...hell....Id thrown them and the bus off a bridge.

Coach Mac did the right thing. His point was we started the week entitled and showing up to team meetings without been prepared (not taped), and they played entitled and without discipline- unprepared. The penalties were completely unnecessary and could have lost the game. You need to set the tone for the rest of the year. He is building a program, not coddling what he already has. He much rather lose the battle than lose the war. This is a rebuilding year and he will build it his way. We are in good hands. It happened at the perfect moment. I bet he has their attention before KY.

Go Gators!

Now is the best time to call out the team. Weed out the guys that don't want to put in the work and make it known what is expected and required. Saban did that in 2007. It was a bad season, but it paid off going forward.

Well, the difference is, Saban had won a BCS title at LSU not long before, and most players on that Bama team were well aware of that. McElwain, what's he done- been decent at a mid-major?
Sure, things need to be done, but he might have overstepped his reach, doing it the way he did.

These are not kids. They are adults trying to succeed in a hugely competitive environment worth millions if dollars. When a young person goes on shark tank and gets blasted cause their idea sucks do you think the investors are being too harsh? This isn't high school.

If you have all of your living expenses paid for to represent a brand worth millions you had absolutely better treat it professionally.

And the Gator players who have two brain cells to rub together know that McElwain helped Bama win two BCS titles. Sometimes when a guy replaces a Shula or a Muschamp, there's some trash that's still left to be taken out.

Was about to post the very same thing. When Saban did it, he wasn't wrong. if the stories about the UF and practice attitudes are accurate, Mac isn't wrong either.

Sometimes you just have to cull the herd.

I don't know how this team could be entitled. I do know if this team doesn't buy in and recruiting is lack luster this year will suck and fans will be restless. My only gripe about Jim is the cost to get him. If we can be patient I think he will be a star.

It's a good way to send a message to your team.
