So you are one of the 23 people moving into NWA everyday per day.
"U.S. Census Bureau statistics and estimates make it possible to predict when Northwest Arkansas will welcome its 500,000th resident.
The best guess — and no one knows for sure — is late summer, probably mid-August."

You might actually be the 500,000th person to move into town.

OK, now that I've got that out of the way I'm ready to contribute to the thread.

Awesome deal bro, and welcome.
Lots to do around here. Interstate construction sucks right now, so don't hold that against us. Lots of interchanges being built and 6 lanes being added to Missouri border.
Some must go places IMO for anyone here for any amount of time....
- Lunch at Green Submarine on Wedington. Best sandwich I've ever had.
- Some locals may tell you to hit up Flying Burrito. Don't. It's really gone down hill and actually sucks now.
- Hugo's on the square has a good burger. It's a little dark and underground. Different atmosphere but good food. Grubs also has a pretty good burger as well.
- Steaks: most people may laugh at me, but Catfish Hole IMO has the best steak in NWA. I also like the bone in ribeye at James at the Mill. I also like Herman's on College and Theos.
- A hidden gem IMO is Mesa Luna just before Baum Stadium. The owner used to be the chef at Bordinos. Solid, solid food.
- Mexican: I prefer La Hacienda behind Baum stadium. Their fajita burrito is the shite. They also have a balcony that overlooks Baum on baseball days. Get there early because the balcony will fill up on a nice day. It's beyond right field. I also just tried El Matadore on Wedington the other day. Pretty good food and great salsa.
- JJs is a good sports bar type on Wedington as well. Some locals may recommend Foghorns. I've never been a big fan of theirs. I prefer chain BWWings for that type of food.
Depending on how long you're here, check out some shows at Walton Arts Center. Go and see Crystal Bridges museum if you dig art. Even if you don't, it's a cool place to walk through.
If you're a golfer, hit up Stonebridge, it's probably the nicest public course here. Bella Vista has a ton of courses, but are private. Do not play Razorback, unless you're playing in cut off sleeves and bare foot. They do actually have an okay driving range though.
If you like music, Robert Earl Keehn will be at George's tonight. Check out their calendar. Not sure what type of music you're into, but it's a pretty good spot on Dickson.

Don't neglect Bentonville. You'll be in NWA for two months, so you might as well head up there a few times. Check out Crystal Bridges at least once, and go to the Bentonville square to find some good restaurants. I really like Tavola Trattoria.
Also, have breakfast at Arsaga's Depot at least once. It's in the old train depot at Dickson and West.

I should have listened to you, wmr. Decided to bar hop to determine which places I liked. Went into Stir, and I can say safely that it is the single worst bar on planet Earth.
I walk in and get IDed by the bouncer. I'm not drunk at that point and the frickhead says it's a fake, because they've been seeing a bunch of Mississippi fake IDs. I tell the fat frick that I have 18 more proofs on me that I am who I say I am, including a corporate card, an Ole Miss alumni card, proofs of insurance, and a social security card. He asks to see them, so I hand him my wallet with all those proofs in them. The piece of shite then says that I stole it and is confiscating it as well. I tell him to go frick himself and anything he asks me about any of those forms of ID I can answer.
He then asks me my birthday and then my age, and I tell him I was born in late 1987 and was 26, but he says "Dude, you can't even keep your story straight. Let's do some basic math here. 2014 minus 1987 equals 27." I respond with "Yeah if I was born in February or before, you fricking dumbass." He then says "Dude, we're letting you off light now, but what you don't understand is we're about to call the cops and have you arrested for theft." My response, "No man, what you don't understand is I'm about to call the cops and have you arrested for stealing my wallet."
Anyway the cops come in, and I find out that the pigs in Fayetteville aren't much better than they are in Oxford. He agrees with the bouncers that there isn't conclusive proof in my wallet that I am who I say I am, despite having working credit cards and one of which being corporate. The pig then has a revelation that can prove to them I am who I am: pull up my Facebook profile and that if my birthday is on there, that would be proof I wasn't lying. Pull it up, the cop lets me go, and the bouncers say that they'll buy me a drink. I reluctantly thank the cop for assisting the situation, but turn to the bouncers, give them the finger, and tell them to go frick themselves.
Can't find the phone number to the bar online, so if anyone has it, it would be much appreciated since I really want to get those two bouncers fired over basically trying to steal my wallet.

HOLY shite.
I almost posted in my posts above that "getting kicked out of STIR is also a right of passage."
They pretend like they're in Dallas or that you'd actually desire to be in there for some reason.
Its doucher central. I hate that place with a passion. I was kicked out of there a few years back, like the second time I went. I won't tell the story, but its the only bar I've ever been strong arm kicked out of in my entire life.

Wow that sucks. Did you try any other places out?

Check out the reviews on their Facebook page, right hand side.

I don't see a # anywhere for them. They probably unlist it on purpose due to the fact that they are always making enemies. I don't know how they stay open. Our doucher population is larger than I'd like to admit.

The fact that stir also tries to charge a cover after 10 or 11 is laughable.

You know its a joke when they have to rely on FaceBook to verify you are who you say you are.

I believe its small-town meathead central. It seems to be the smaller town people around NWA who want to feel like they are in a big city. I don't get it at all. Its like the anti-Dickson street.
And for the record, I believe Shotz is also owned by King Douche Dave who's biggest achievement was killing JR's Ballroom and turning it into a place for Van Halen cover bands and 17th Floor shows.

Damn that sucks.
Fayetteville without a Honky Tonk is a Fayetteville I don't love.
If Downtown Siloam Springs had a couple bars I'd move there in a heartbeat.

They really do have a great downtown over there.

The shitty old Crown Hotel appears to be getting refurbed. I'm keeping my ear open for what happens with that space. Though I'm ready to move back to Tulsa already working for the man is bollocks.
