wasnt drafted. We all know he left early because he has a family but another year obviously would have been smart.
Congrats, though, to Zach Clayton!! Hard work and bustin your arse pays off sometimes.

agreed. I think he has a lot of potential as an NFL player.
115 career receptions
17 career TDs
1,978 career yards
17.2 career yards/catch
and that's over two years

He will be in camp somewhere, assuming they have camp. If he is good enough, he will make a roster and be able to provide for his family. I think he is a borderline NFL receiver.

He'll get a FA contract somewhere and hopefully make a squad. Wish him luck

Both of those statements are true. Adams was a very good college receiver, but his body frame has to give NFL teams concern. He runs in the 4.5s in the 40, so he doesn't stretch an NFL defense. That would mean he would have to make his $ going underneath. I don't know that he could survive 16 games doing that while weighing slightly more than the average 11th grade flag girl.

Yup. That's why some people don't think he had much to gain by coming back another year.
I disagree with that, but he was never going to be a high round draft choice.

Very true, he doesn't have the frame to put on weight, isn't fast enough to be a deep threat. One thing is for sure though, he is clutch and has great hands. He will get picked up as a free agent and hopefully make a practice squad. If he manages his money well enough he can earn a comfortable living whether it be on a practice team or NFL europe / Arena...

They make decent money being on the practice squad as well. he will be able to support them for the next few years at least

He must've had some of them there "character issues". Lot of that goin' around these days.

I wouldn't worry...guys on ITAT already predict he will have a much better career than Julio.
All kidding aside it seems if he needed to support a family the more sure way would have been to stay at au and get his degree to use to get a "real job" in case football doesn't work out. Odds are he will be out of football with no degree in the next two to three years (unless he has already graduated in which case please ignore this entire paragraph). I don't think some of these guys understand how much that free education they are getting is worth.

He's a big play WR that has a nice frame. Needs to put on some weight and work on his route running, but my guess is he will get a FA contract.

Well, what kind of a job can you get with a Sociology degree anyways........

I'm going to disagree...you all have pretty much declared that he'll only see a practice squad. The concerns are legitimate but that's only half the story. The guy has GREAT hands, runs very good routes and is as clutch as they come...he is also fantastic in traffic...he bailed Cam out more times than I could count in the Clemson and LSU game...you see the ball thrown on a rope right to the defender and into the frame darts Darvin Adams, streaking back TOWARD Cam. No, he doesn't have the lights out measurables but he sure as hell has the intangibles. As far as what his frame can handle, he took TONS of big shots from the best the SEC has to offer over the last 2 years and I never even saw him "slow to get up". No, he won't be a pro bowler but I do think he makes an actual roster and plays in actual games in the next couple of years.

Auburn has a program for former players that come back to campus to finish their degrees. And I believe that tuition for this program is fully paid by the athletic department.
I'm pretty sure bama and pretty much every other SEC school has similar programs. Programs like this are good not only for PR purposes for the school ("former Player X returns and earns degree!"), but for recruiting purposes as well ("no matter what the future holds, son, you can always earn your degree").

I'm sure he has "character issues"....being mature enough to be a husband and father while playing college football and all

He is a clone of DJ Hall. Good college receiver but lacks the build to go over the middle in the NFL.

That's cool if they do. I wasn't aware that this kind of program was offered. That would make the decision easier to leave early if you're not a top draft pick, but I still bet very few take advantage and come back. Hopefully he will.
