Playing well and bringing your team back in the 4th quarter is when it matters most.

Like having twice as many turnovers as touchdowns in his 3 SB appearances?

He was great, that 1 game against FSU, he took a beating, I couldn't believe he kept getting up.

Spurrier FINALLY put him in the shotgun in the rematch.

Agreed, if you couldn't beat Florida in 2014, it's just not in the cards for the next couple of years.

Ole Brick by Brick couldn't even keep it within 10 points of our 13 team either.

So, Peyton didn't go 0-3 vs Florida, Tennessee went 0-3

Danny was not "better" than Peyton in college any more than Darron Thomas was "better" than Andrew Luck.

Wuerffel was the ultimate system quarterback, doesn't make him better.

both guys played 4 seasons in the SEC at the same time, surrounded by elite offensive talent. Statistically, wuerffel was much better. He also has a heisman and a national title. Had wuerffel played for hawaii under june jones, i'd buy the system qb argument. however, besides grossman, none of spurrier's other florida qb's were particularly good(dean, johnson, palmer, brindise).

at the end of the day, manning is exactly like andrew luck. a once in a generation NFL talent that had a really nice college career but no hardware to show for it.

And guess what? Tee Martin beat Florida and won the national title with almost the same roster that Peyton had.

Tee Martin had a much, much better defense than Peyton had to work with. Peyton also had to play two of his three starts vs. UF in the swamp, and the year they came to Neyland it was Spurrier's best team ever and they went up 35-0 in about 18 minutes. Not much Peyton could do about that. Just terrible timing and luck.

97 is on Peyton though. Total chokejob. They probably win that game and the natty if it's at Neyland.

Let us proceed ...

what? nebraska and michigan finished the season undefeated, but due to the old bowl tie ins michigan played in the rose bowl, leaving nebraska to play.... Tennessee.

Whether they beat florida or not, they still would have played nebraska, who won that matchup by 4 touchdowns.
