From all accounts of his time at MSU - he's fairly bright. He finished with a master's degree while a player. That happens, but its not a common occurrence.

I finished a Masters degree while working full time with two kids. He was basically a full time student half the year.

I didn't know about his academic performance while at MSU. I suppose if he can score high enough on the GRE he could get into a program.

you generally have to be interviewed to get into a doctoral program and have high enough grades. You have to have a reason to want the phd. They want to know that you will use it. I just am not sure they are going to view him as Doctoral material.

Many psychology programs at the doctoral level require a 3.5 GPA, as well as satisfactory scores on both the GRE and Miller Analogies Test.

It gets more competitive for a clinical specialty.

Good for him. I'm an LSU guy and hate the cowboys but at least his platform will prevent him from being criminally underrated like he was in college.

good for him. He will need that degree after he flames out of the league in 3 yrs

If Dak plays the next 3 years like he did as a rookie, he'd be the one of the highest paid player in the NFL in 2020 at the latest. Jones would probably tear up rookie contract after 2018.

A doctorate is something that should not be taken lightly . It's not something you can do in the off season either . On the average it takes about 5 years of full time study . 3 years of coursework . 2 comprehensive exams that you have to study 3-6 months for . A dissertation that takes on the average about 2 years . I'm assuming that you get the phd from an aacsb accredited institution .

Not at all there are litteraly tons of consulting, marketing, negotiation people who's formal education is psychology. Definitely not the same as phd in art history or some other bs.

Psych doctoral programs are highly selective. Good for him if he can get into that.

Good for him. I have no connection to MSU but Dak actually had me pulling for the Cowboys last year. I hope he has a long, productive career.

Makes sense- if I had to work with Jerry Jones I'd want to study psychology too.

Oh and good for Dak, this is just more proof of the "if Dak had been at a major SEC school he would have been blown up by the media like Cam or Tebow" theory- media would have loved a guy with a Master's in psychology as a cover boy.

Clinical Psychologists can do quite well. The program takes forever, though (I think).

IO Psychology is the route to take. More Lucrative and active market, higher median salary, and more flexibility when it comes to research grants.

The difference between a 5 figure and 6 figure salary.
