Outside of the one FF, Bruce only has three tournament wins in ten years. Someone in the media needs to grow a pair of balls and ask him why.

I’m going to take up for Pearl here. Auburn’s traditionally a hard place to have consistent level of basketball success.

Auburn has a total of 13 NCAA trips all time. Pearl has 5 of them and only two other coaches have made trips, Sonny Smith had 5 in 11 seasons and Cliff Elliis had 3 in 10.

This was beautifully written.

Isn’t basketball really the one sport where you can turn a program around in one year?

Peaked as far as the NCAA tournament perhaps, but he’s been better and more consistent in the regular season I would say.

Hopefully he finds a PG this off-season. It’s been the missing link for 3 years now.

I have zero problem with that if their fans agree that Auburn is traditionally not a good program.

But if we’re pretending they’re a basketball blue blood and a “basketball school,” by extension shouldn’t they demand more?

Can’t have it both ways.

2019 was a big year for Pearl and Calipari, both got the bag.

It’s frankly impressive how you are so consistently 100% wrong with your takes. I’m wondering if we could all work together and monetize this deficiency of yours? Like, let’s pick a day, say Wednesday. You make a post with can’t miss bets for the upcoming week. Everyone does the exact opposite of your advice, quits jobs to retire, etc. Would you be down for something like this?

Yeah, that's why the 2020 tournament getting cancelled hurt so much. It would've accounted for a non-insignificant percentage of our all-time appearances lol.

Also, it took Bruce a good 4-5 years to get us going. Our program was worse than a dumpster fire when he arrived. Do y'all remember Cinmeon Bowers at point?

True. Nothing motivates Auburn like Alabama being successful. The NIL checks will double ok the recruitment trail down on the planes

First off, I hope UConn crushes you.

Second off, I thought what Oats did in 2021 was Fluky with a bunch of seniors leftover from Avery Johnson.

I thought last season was fluky having a talent like Brandon Miller.

I’ve watched ya’ll enough now to see that there’s nothing fluky. Oats has installed an NBA level offense and recruits elite shooters and guards that can penetrate to the paint and kick out for a three to a near flawless level.

Auburn had that type of offense in 2019 but Bruce Pearl and the program got complacent and we’ve never recovered.

I watch a lot of NBA basketball and Oats has implemented what they do and it’s pretty dang impressive. They don’t take long twos, they don’t take bad shots. It’s either a relatively open three or a good look at the rim.

Thanks for the kind words.

I disagree that Pearl has gotten complacent. Their problem is they haven't had a guard they can trust to run the offense in crunch time since that short little spark plug of a point. I'm not sure why because his offense is conducive to a guard having a lot of fun imo.

Playing devil's advocate that is why we fired Avery and hired Nate. Auburn was rolling and we didn’t want to be left behind….

Might wanna go back and look at the program he inherited, vs what Oats inherited. It will answer quite a bit for you

That's irrelevant once you made the Final Four run. At that point, you're established, and you'd expect to make the Sweet 16 more often than you don't even get in. So far, that isn't the case.

Truth.

This conference is elite (in several sports) in part because we motivate each other to succeed.

I'm sure Oats' current run will eventually put the heat on someone — could be Bruce, could be Cal, who knows.

But some booster or some AD will get antsy eventually, and the whole cycle will continue.
