Our SOS numbers are usually pretty high despite never leaving the state for an OOC game. This is nothing new for us.

Folks tend to forget that we get to play FSU when they are really good as well as when they are average. Most of the time, they are pretty good overall.

I know Florida is coming in underrated with a chip on their shoulder. They have the talent to pull it off, but they prolly have one of the toughest schedules in the country. It take some miricales.

Florida finally beat Tennessee in basketball. Now it's our turn to beat them in football.

I don't think so. I'm not sure the offense will make a big enough difference. Plus, Auburn was always a potent offense under Malzahn. Florida's offense has never been potent since Meyer left.

1) Don't need to have a potent offense for a better year. We'll take average for now.
2) returning to more of Meyer style offense which you already stated was potent.

I agree. The OP is comparing you to Auburn. You'd need a great offense to be like them.

Ehhh we will see how it looks.

Everything I gave heard out of Gainesville, says that the offense has learned the playbook exceptionally fast and that the players are executing in practice to damn near perfection. Ive also heard this is the most comfortable and confident that Driskel has ever looked since being on campus. Muschamp has went "hands off" on the offense and is letting Roper run everything. So far so good.

Believe it when I see it. I've heard versions of this pre-season optimisim for the last four years and all we end up with is 50 feet of horse dung. Caring about football has gone so far down the list, it's not even on the list. #sanitykeeper

They were totally cursed with injuries last year. If they can get most of those guys back that didn't have to quit or go pro, while getting better production on offense, then yeah they can make a great run at the east. USC and UGA should be the other teams in the East. I think Mizzou is gonna struggle some but still be good but not as good as last year. Franklin and Josey really seemed like the heart and soul of the team. Mauk looked pretty good when he wasn't asked to do much but looked bad when they really needed to throw. Also losing Green-Beckham is a huge loss and will hurt them in big play ability.

USC should be really good but the jury is still out on Dylan Thompson, he has shown flashes of brilliance but then you have things like the Mizzou game where he just couldn't get it done and had to be pulled for an injured leader.

So I think the East will probably come down to USC and UF but don't count out UGA and Tennessee should upset some teams this year.

Green-Beckham is still there.

Don't see Tenn. doing much.

I thought Beckham got kicked off. Did they drop all those charges?

Tennessee should be about 7-6 or 8-5 overall but with a couple upsets like UGA and maybe Mizzou or an unmotivated Bama or Auburn (think Bama against Miss State last year).

Could we be good? Sure. There is plenty of talent. I think Roper was a quality hire and this is the direction we should have gone right out of the gate. The tone is going to be set right from the start. If we only score 24 points or so against Idaho, it is going to be a long season.

Laugh if you want...but watch out. In 2013 we had 15 season ending injuries ands 10 of those were to starters. We played at times with third string qb...repeat third string qb. We put 59 players on the plane trip to Columbia SC last November.

Its 2014 and we will be much much better. The schedule? Its not that bad to me...I like it. We have LSU, Mizzou and USC coming to the Swamp. We go to Bama with a team that isn't anywhere close to the 2011 version with a new qb. We go to UT who has lost their starting OL & DL for all intents and purposes..they are a year away at least. LSU has new qb and comes a calling to the Swamp, tWLOCP will send the biteless dawgs home unhappy...Mizzou will be dispatched in the Swamp, USC ditto in a tough game that the home team wins.

What schedule? We have almost 5 months to wait and see the season start. Im confident.

I'll settle with anything over 7 wins honestly. Although I'd really not like to get to the NCG and lose.

I don't blame you. That huge shellacking that Nebraska handed the Gators 20 years ago must still sting.

My only question is which stung worse...that loss or the one to Georgia Southern?

Auburn came off one of the worst seasons Ever in there 2012/13 football season. Then they went on to the NC this year. Florida this past season also had one of their worst seasons ever. I noticed that during those losing seasons both teams were still filled with national champion caliber talent. Though UF didn't get rid of Will Muschamp, could they flip it around this year, like Auburn of this past season?

You have to think about all Auburn had going for them though.

1.Got rid of the dead weight and brought back the second biggest part (Cam was the biggest part) of the three headed monster that really won them the 2010 Championship in Gus.
2.Despite all the crap that happened in 2012, they still managed to have one glimmer on that team in the form of Mason who had 1000 yards rushing.
3.A dominant OL that was selected by LSU's now OL coach Grimes (a plug for how much better we will be in that regard this year) .
4.Brought in a dynamic JUCO QB who accumulated over 3100 pass yards 18 TDs with nearly 1100 rush yards and 19 TDs in 2012 (seeing something familar)
5.Also brought in the #3 JUCO RB in CAP

Add in the transfer Bama transfer Grant who finally moved up the depth chart after 2 years and you have four of the players I mentioned combine for over 4100 rush yards and 47 TDs. Grant got 9 touches the previous year, and neither Marshall or CAP were even on the team. Do you think that yall have found an extra 3060+ yardage (let alone just rushing yardage) and 39 TDs just over the offseason?

As I sat down and looked over this the other day and read a couple articles, Auburn had COMPLETELY dismantled almost everything that was wrong with that team. They brought in guys with two years worth of college experience (albeit JUCO, but still) to beef up their dynamic offense, got back the guy who really got them to the top 2010, and Sammy Coates committed to doing everything he could to be an incredible WR. They lost almost all the little production they had of receiving threats with Lutzy, Blake, and McCalleb, and Coates only had 6 catches in 2012.

They've went back the JUCO route this year and got a top safety and a dominant playmaker WR in Duke Williams. I expect that offense to be more balanced and more efficient. The DL is stacked with seniors I believe, and the secondary should be improved.Thing is, if they wanted a more beastly pass game, they would go with Johnson although Marshall should put up better stats in the pass game this year compared to 2013 as he learned on the fly.

That team is loaded for a consecutive run, but IMbiasedO, if the LSU passing game gets rocking, we could make our own run.
