The best thing about the whole "Corndog" thing is that it still makes some LSU folks mad. Hence it hasnt died.

Even ESPN associates corndogs with LSU now.

Corndogs and Gumps: what's the backstory

SEC Media Days 2010.

Les Miles and Saban were eating in the cafeteria over there. Les Miles bet Spurrier he could hit then UF HC, Urban Meyer, with a corndog from 30 yards. Meyer, who has always been able to see trouble coming and get the hell out of dodge, ducked and WHAMMY it hit Saban in the rear.

Saban exclaimed, "Something bit me!...It hit me in the butt-ocks."

and that's the story behind corndogs and gumps.

Auburn fans were their normal selves...not funny, and not original. They stole a name given to Nebraska fans and threw it at LSU.

Its stupid and makes no sense, but hey..if that's what you want to call us..sure.

Did not know this

The aubies are some thieving unoriginal bastards

Gumps totally did not come from Forrest Gump.

Right

But who started using it first? Does anyone know?

I can guarantee you that LSU fans have no emotional reaction to the corndog nickname, but believe what you will.

"Coonasses" as CNS referred to LSU folk is actually more of an insult and actually describes a portion of the fanbase.

No, the best thing is that auburn fans think that it's ever made any LSU fan mad.

Well frick, some of the LSU fans showing up aren't doing anything for the "it doesn't make us mad" line.

is there a 'small victory' for arkansas hidden in this thread?

So why call us corndogs and not fried pieces of shite? Fried pieces of shite has a certain charm to it.
