I think it's pretty simple. If MSU loses a close game AT Bama, Bama goes to #1 having beaten #1. (FSU has already dropped below a 1 loss team) If MSU then wins last two to finish 11-1 they will be in final four as their 1 loss will be the best loss of the one loss teams. Danny K would probably say the committee is trying to get two SECw teams in the final four.

Exactly. Why is this so hard for so many folks to understand?

Money people prefer State not in and moreover they don't want two SEC teams. Those that don't believe that are not thinking.

The problem with a small committee is this, all it takes is 4 or 5 to talk on their phones during the week, or at a dinner table, and these chess moves can be anticipated. It is very obvious for all to see that these moves have an intended purpose for the next set of games the following week.

I always wondered if someone posting in a thread that they didn't read, understands how stupid and idiotic they look.

The disign of a “committee of few” with unspecified rules, and determinant yard sticks, was to keep out the best 4 teams in favor of the committees best 4 teams as their biases perceive it to be.

They could easily deal with this by putting MSU 5th after the conference championships and say "sorry we wanted some other top teams who won their conference to get in.

It's pretty simple. On Dec 7, if all conference champs (Power 5) have one loss or are undefeated, one will be left out. Should FSU manage to lose, OSU goes in. If FSU wins out, it will come down to a choice between TCU/Baylor and Ohio St. At that point, SOS will suddenly matter. B1G in. B12 out because of no championship and because TCU and Baylor have very weak SOS.

Everything between now and then is political posturing.

op, great job of keeping all that straight. no doubt the committee will use whatever means necessary to get its desired outcome, as they've already proven.

No problem brother.

I have played chess ( 2100 rating ) for 35 years. Deductive reasoning is a great tool. I don't just take things at face value, I try and think things through, which is why I as a conservative, turned against the death penalty 3 years ago, to many innocent men on death row, proved innocent by DNA.

That's not America.

Thanks for the complimentary words.

antitrust should have a role here, but that would require actually unmasking the beast. numbers dont lie, people do and I appreciate OP's analysis. He is spot on about law of large numbers and other economic factors that anticipate antitrust enforcement. This "kumuttah",
has hidden its tracks and desires well it appears

Bama is out right now because they have one top 25 win while others have multiple. End of story, that can change though.

if the job of the committee is to identify the "best" team(s

who said that? by taking the computers away and inserting a committee everything becomes subjective. ALL people have bias. and now there is a probability of an agenda that has nothing to do with crowning the best team in the country out of the "best" 4. what, oh what could that agenda be you ask?

I have said all along and I still do; the scenario this committee will be looking for is to find 4 teams from 4 different regions to play 2 games that generate the most money possible. the way to generate the most money is to generate the most interest on a national scale. the ACC and the SEC represent the same region and that is where the screwing will happen. there isn't a way in hell 2 SEC teams make it in and it is entirely possible that an SEC completely gets shut out. if the east champ wins the title, this national playoff will not contain an SEC team. at least with FSU in the mix.

I think they realize if the SEC is shutout .Unless theres a damn good reason all hell will break loose .I dont think they want that in their first year.

Well thought out post ...op and agree .
The ones with brain activity and enjoy thinking and discussion appreciate it. Those that enjoy and repeat butt hurt , melt , u mad? cheating refs etc all day everyday ....will then tell every one how they did not read (look how cool i am ....u mad bro ) and they prob wont .

They'll put in whatever teams they feel make them the most money. There is no SEC bias, 2011 disspelled that notion.

I think I have exposed the committee for the biased azz clowns they are.
The only thing you've exposed is a narrow-minded theory.

But you are on the right track.

This is spot on.
No way Bama should stay #5 with only a last second loss on the road to a top 10 team. Oregon's loss was at home and wasn't last second, to say the least. TCU gave up over 1000 points in their loss.

This is a factual post. Committee looking ahead, not at body of work thus far.

It's actually a good read. They want diversity so bad they'll create it as they go.
