I said a couple times this week that if the Iron Bowl is close, I hope we win it on a Griffith field goal. He went 5 for 5, made both extra points, and I believe he kicked every single kickoff as a touchback.
Perfect game for a kicker. I never blamed him for the "kick 6", but this certainly lets him go out on a high note.

Outscored Auburn by himself.

Well, let's be honest here, Auburn can suck a big ole dick. Nice field sabotage, bitches.

I'm just going to leave these here. They're from the 1985 Iron Bowl thread.

Good news is 30 years later Bama has the worst kickers in the SEC. Fieldgoal Gus has the best.

you can't possibly have a great deal of faith in Griffith.

He kicked the beejeesus out of that 50 yarder. Dang!

That 54 yarder vs LSU has boosted his confidence. Couldn't root harder for a guy to rebound.

He was very talented in HS. I guess kickers go through these things. Like a golfer does.

I thought he was washed up after the first few games this season. A lot of kickers hit a slump like that and never recover. I am really happy for him.

It's been said he has spent a lot of his career injured. Not sure how accurate that is, but based on the way he is hitting kick offs this year compared to the past I'm inclined to think something physical was going on.
Aside from that he was definitely shaken mentally earlier this year. Glad he has bounced back in such a big way. 19/22 since the bad start, with one of those being a blocked kick that wasn't really on him.

And while we're at it, let's send out a big thank you to Auburn for making Griffith have to stand there and watch the kick six on the big board right before the ref blew the whistle for the opening kickoff. You talk about bulletin board material? Can't top that. Congrats to Griffith for just saying "frick you Auburn." Five times.

He kicked all last season with a hurt back then missed a couple of early ones and it messed with his head.
I think Saban trusting him when he said he would make that kick against LSU exorcised the last of those demons. He's back kicking like he did before he got hurt last year.
