Serious question: why does lsu get to claim co champs when UF won 2 of 3 head to head?

Of the top five teams in the final SEC standings, LSU is the only one who played all four of the others. Not only did LSU play all of them, they played them all on the road and had a winning record against them (7-5).

Florida played two, LSU and Kentucky, both at home, and went 4-2.

Kentucky played three, Mississippi State and Florida on the road, LSU at home, and went 4-5.

Arkansas played two, Mississippi State and LSU, both at home, and went 4-2.

Mississippi State played three, Arkansas on the road, Kentucky and LSU at home, and went 2-7.

Also it's not LSU fans making this up. It's the SEC rules.

LSU isn't "getting to claim" anything, they are acknowledging the SEC rule that crowns champions based on the team's overall records. Doesn't matter how each team got to that overall record, just matters that they are there; sometimes 2 teams end up with the same record, sometimes it's only one team. Either way, best OVERALL , not head to head, record wins the championship. Congrats LSU & UF 2017 SEC Champions

Except LSU isn't claiming a co-divisional championship, the SEC is claiming LSU and Florida as co-SEC champions.

It gets easier and easier to spot the football fans who start following baseball when the team shows signs of life.

One major difference...LSU football has won National Championships. Florida baseball...not so much.

As far as the "co--champs" issue, if UF doesn't give up 8 runs in the last 2 innings of game 3 against the Tigers, we're not having this conversation.

I can't think of a much worse argument in the sport of college baseball than this one

I am so glad that so many great gator baseball fans were able to enjoy the experience. I mean, those empty seats throughout the ball park were just photos from a bad angle, right? What a pathetic crowd/support for such an important game. And, yes, LSU players will enjoy wearing their SEC League Championship rings every bit as much as will the gator players.

Florida can claim their co-championship based on only one criterium - they beat us head-to-head 2 out of 3.
However, LSU can claim their co-championship based on all the other criteria you mentioned - which comes directly from the SEC Office rulebook.

No big deal really. Both of us may make either the Top 8 and/or Omaha...

I upvoted. I love how our apathetic fanbase doesn't even fill the SMALLEST stadium in the SEC while the conference titles keep rolling in.

And I love how it rustles LSU's jimmies!

How about claiming to share a championship with a team you lost 2 out of 3 to?

It's not claiming it is being awarded

Your AD and the commish seem to be pretty good budslately, maybe he can cry to him about the conference rules for awarding champs

But as of now we are champs and y'all are champs and there is really no argument otherwise. Is what it is

...it is worth nothing though that Florida won their share FIRST and held SOLE POSSESSION for at least two hours before your late asses dragged in.

Enjoy that 2 seed (oh yeah, that "tie-break" thing). We'll be waiting for you in the Championship round.

Thanks

Every team doesn't play head to head in the conference during the season and there is no championship game, therefore highest record is conference champion. Not hard to comprehend.

I'm surprised Florida played Saturday. It looked sunny there.
