Fact is we've been penalized much worse in the polls for our losses than some others have. Florida gets embarrassed by FSU and doesn't drop at all. Auburn get embarrassed by Alabama and drops 1 spot.

We hold Alabama to 0 points until the 4th quarter and that close loss dropped us 11 spots??? How does that make any sense.

FWIW, I have no problem with Auburn being ranked ahead of us, they did squeak by us at home (remember, 1 second away from losing that game), but to be 7 spots ahead of us is a little absurd. Auburn has gotten laughed off the field twice this season and that hasn't happened to us once.

Once again, who lost behind LSU when Bama shut you out at home? What teams that lost behind Auburn this week deserved to be ahead of them?

Not really. All I'm saying is who fricking cares where a bunch of 4 loss teams are ranked. Just throw them all in a hat and draw.
Why all the angst over ranking a bunch of also rans?

We only played 11 games thanks to those dickheads at UF.

We also didn't win any games that we were supposed to lose.

The UF game was a complete disaster.

The ranking is fair and accurate.

Why not? LSU couldn't beat Florida, Wisconsin, or Auburn. Our "good wins" over Ole Miss and Arkansas look like trash now. Is our best win over an unranked, 8-4 Texas A&M team? It's perfectly reasonable to have Utah over LSU right now.

It's supposed to be an opinion poll, not a mathematical formula. Auburn barely beat LSU at home before LSU re-vamped their offense.

The two teams are not that far apart. Considering how close the games were, the order should be:

14. Florida
15. Auburn
16. LSU

...unless you want to drop Auburn below A&M (who LSU blew out) and UGA.

From one of your reasonable fans (one of the few).

quote:

#13 Auburn loss 30-12 to #1 Bama
#15 Florida loss 31-13 to #14 FSU
#16 Nebraska loss 40-10 to Iowa #17 Tennessee loss 45-34 to Vandy
#19 Boise State loss 27-20 to Air Force
#20 Houston loss 48-44 to Memphis
#22 Utah loss to #9 Colorado
#23 Washington State loss 45-17 to
#5 Washington
When LSU loss to Bama and dropped from #13 to #24 after a close one, only 1 team under them loss. However, this past weekend, 6 teams under Auburn loss. They were able to sustain their position because everyone behind them loss, whereas during the Bama week, that wasn't the case for LSU

Shouldn't the same criteria apply to Auburn? Who have they beaten besides LSU?

Hell, who has UF beaten besides LSU?

LSU lost to Auburn at Auburn after a TD was reviewed, call reversed and scoreboard changed after time expired.

ESPN ran a crawl with LSU winning.

And all of that was with Miles.

I think Vegas would have LSU as a 4-point fave at neutral site.

I honestly don't understand why we dropped at all following the bama game. They were number 1, we were 13. We played them tougher than any team has played them all season and only lost by 10 points.

I don't understand the logic of "the 13th best team didn't beat the number 1 team so they must not be the 13th best team."

I'm not complaining about #21 now because we lost to a dogshit UF team, but I don't understand how anyone could have watched that Bama game and came away thinking that LSU was overrated at 13th.

ETA: I don't really give a shite about teams behind us winning. We played the number 1 team (by miles) and played them tougher than anyone else has, (or likely will) this entire season. If we got completely dominated like most of Bama's opponents, fine drop us all you want, but why should we drop for playing better than expected?

And did Miles coach that goose egg against Alabama or the loss to FL, both of which were at home?

This can't be posted too much.

Is this the greatest moral victory in history?

Yay! We only lost by 10!
