You may want to qualify your poll with the factor that it may be harder to get a University degree in some states. i.e. the weaker students are weeded out.
there are shitty colleges in every state anyone can get into with barely more than a high school diploma

No - I looked at the table, finally. But the thread title is wrong.

Do you see a script A next to my screen name? No, because I graduated from college. There's no denying that Floridians are the weirdest folks in the country. Then again, I was living in the Keys for the last year.

Somebody should draw up a credible list of what sorts of industries and business/technological hotspots they have in each state. For Mississippi, for instance, there's the Corp of Engineers. Here in NC, the rate is higher than all SEC states except Missouri because the Research Triangle Park is here. And so forth.

I know 1 person in the Keys that's not weird. So, your assertion is still incorrect.
How did you like 12 months there?

There are literally dozens of places in TX to get a four year degree... nothing short of a pulse will get you into most of them.
Of all the states listed, Texas has no excuse for being that low

I accept your admission of being wrong and your apology.

They're counting Associates and higher, so, yeah, JCs and CCs are going to be included. For instance, Mississippi's Hinds Community College is the largest in Mississippi by enrollment, though that's spread over several campuses IIRC.
Edit: to clarify, they're the largest college by enrollment period, not just out of CCs. So more than MSU, OM, and SMU.

Hey, frickstick. There are about twice as many graduates coming out of the University of Alabama as there are coming from Ole Miss. That's with tougher admission requirements, too.
Suck it.

40 percent of the state having a degree is wayyy too high and the "everybody has to go to college" line of thinking has been a huge contributor in the demise of our country's middle class. This is not something to be proud of and shaming people who chose not to go to college in favor of learning a trade is awful.

A much more interesting list would be average college debt per capita.

You live in the correct state apparently. Congrats.

Your friend sounds like an anomaly
It was really nice seeing the Gulf and Atlantic every day, and of course, the weather is amazing. There's also a lot of fun to be had with all the outdoor activities on the water and the nightlife. The people there weren't my favorite, though, as they were either native Conchs who only like/trust fellow Conchs, or they were from elsewhere in the country and thought going to the Keys would alleviate their problems. A lot of self-important folks.
I was born in Naples and my parents still have a house over by the Turtle Club down there, I like Naples much better than the Keys. It's gotten too big for my liking, though.

Also, SC leads the SEC states in trailer homes as well. That's pretty backwoods.
Not really. Most trailer homes are near urban areas.
Never seen more trailer parks anywhere like I've seen in North Carolina. Got nothing against NC, just an observation

People are making a big deal in this thread, but the differences by state are statistically insignificant in most cases.
Honestly, I'm surprised that Alabama is so low as we have a lot (too many, in my opinion) of public universities--when we really should just be concentrating all of that higher education money on only several big schools. I guess that it just goes to show that more schools does not = more grads.
Ditto for Louisiana. Louisiana has literally like 10 universities in NCAA Division I alone...back in the 1990s I seem to recall hearing that only California, Ohio, and Texas had more Division I schools than Louisiana...yet according to the OP's stats, Louisiana has the second lowest percentage of college grads in all southeastern states...

It'd be interesting to see how many of these percentages gel with how many college grads the states actually produce. For example, here in Alabama, 99.9% of college grads seem to ultimately move to Atlanta. I heard 99.9% of Louisiana's grads move to Houston, etc.

Wow. Those all seem low. I am not sure I even know 10 people who do not have a college degree. I was thinking at least 50% would be the average.

But, if you go to the Mississippi Delta, it's probably 1 in a 100. It's the govt pushing college education so they can promise the forgiving a bunch of college loan debt so they can get more Democrat votes.

Ya, you can apply that same logic for Arkansas grads moving to Dallas/Fort Worth area.
