Define "championships won". Are they referring to conference titles or the NC?

They will only pick 2 teams from the same conference if there is no other viable alternative.

The SEC will not be getting 2 bids most years, thinking otherwise you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

It will happen once in awhile, but not often.

They are setting the table to omit undefeated teams from weak conferences with weak schedules.

The criterion above gives them a lot of leeway to apply the eye test.

This. Lets say La Tech or Boise go undefeated, while Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon and Fla St all have one loss.

Speaking along those lines, what do you suppose the conference pecking order is? Figure SEC is safely in, as is Pac 12. That's 2; what about the B1G, Big 12 and ACC? That totals 5 conference champs to consider for 4 slots. Before you arbitrarily drop the B1G to 5th, remember the pull they have behind closed doors; and as for the ACC- if Fla St is back long-term, you have to put them into the "safe" spot too.

"Look similar" is the key. Zero loss sort... one loss sort... two loss sort...

The gap between the SEC/Pac-12 and the rest of the conferences is very large. At least one of the Big XII, ACC or Big Televen will be left out annually.

The playoff needs to be 8 teams so we dont have to listen to conference champs bitching every year.

Preety much

5 Conference Champions
2/3 Wildcards (*3rd Wildcard spot is reserved for Notre Dame, BYU, or non power conference that meet a certain criteria like in the BCS system. If they don't meet the criteria then it becomes a 3rd Wildcard spot)
