They don't even know what blue blood means.

There are 8 blue blood teams. It does not mean they are among the most elite in the nation, it means they are the teams that were consistently good in the period of time when college football got popular and have large fan bases that give them a general advantage when it comes to things like revenue, TV time, etc.

However, I'm not going to lie. I giggled that they had ND #11.

I think it should be a revolving list. There are teams on that list that haven’t done anything in at least 10 years. I think recent success should matter if we’re going to talk about current blue blood football programs.

10 of Tenn’s series wins were from 1934 to 1959. Since then, the series is not remotely the same.

Tennessee still leads LSU 10-9-2 following 1959, by the way.

I stopped reading when I saw some inflated national championship totals from certain schools.

True, but it’s not the lopsided “ownership” they beat their chests with.

I just think the definition is different. Blue Blood isn't "current" it's all time. They don't rotate.

If OSU was terrible for a decade in a row they would still be a blue blood. Bama did nothing in between 1995 and 2007. Doesn't mean they weren't a blue blood during that entire time

Ohio State not being #2 is an insult to the college football viewing public.

Yeah, people just don't get it. Blue blood isn't about a 10 year period, but a 100-year period. The 8 programs have been great programs since, at least, the 1920s and have always bounced back.

Like I said, being a blue blood isn't really about being among the best programs as far as results go. It's just a term like OG. They are the OG's of college football, it's not going to change.

Just use a different term for those who have been better lately is all. Nobody is going to call Nebraska one of the top8 programs in the country, but they are still a blue blood.

So, it is impossible to become a “Blue Blood” if you aren’t already one?

It is not impossible but it is hard to move up.

Not necessarily... I do think Penn State is pretty close. The most objective way of looking at it is that they need more representation on these lists:

You're going to find the same 8 programs near the top of all of those lists (other than bowl record). If someone were to come along and end up there, I think they'd get blue blood consideration.... but no one is really close other than PSU

Right.

The simplest explanation of blueblood is this: they're the teams that have almost always been there. There are only a handful, as in most sports.

Apparently LSU is a blue blood with 2 more years under Brian Kelly. I love LSU but it will never be considered a blue blood. I feel like that era is passed. Nebraska is still a blue blood for Pete’s sake.

What bullshite.

"Let's only count when LSU had a streak."

Okay, in that case, let's only count the most recent meeting.

40-13.

Josh Heupel took a bunch of 3 stars and walk-ons to that feared Dead Valley.

By halftime your dancing fig coach that has never even won a major bowl game, your future Heisman winner, and a team full of NFL talent were hanging their heads.

Your fan base was in the parking lot claiming, "we would'a won ifin we had time to gets drunk."

Blue blood? More like veins full of crawfish shite.

What? Is he finally going to at least win a big bowl game?

He was the coach at a real "blue blood". What did he win at Notre Dame? NOT. A. frickING. THING.

Hey genius. You’re proving my point, because I was being sarcastic, and I also said earlier the term blue blood means nothing (Notre Dame). Article is dumb, like your post.

Also, UTk is trending downward. SEC coach of the year and that’s about it, fella.

And… did no one tell you that LSU is a better football school than Notre Dame? Just like LSU when Saban came was better than Michigan State. Believe it, don’t believe it, doesn’t change the fact that Tennessee will always be a joke. Ole Miss, LSU, and Georgia will win 3 national championships each before you win a single playoff game.
