Don’t watch him at all but a little NFL snippet popped up in my recommended so I figured might as well since it’s in my recommended.
Blah blah basically talked about dynasties (using that term loosely in this thread) in weak conferences such as the PAC-10 and Big 12. Which as you can probably guess I am implying USC and Oklahoma. Have had little to no competition over the entirety of the period in which they dominated/dominate. So to get to my point I ask...
Is Clemson east coast USC given the criteria? Oklahoma has choked away a million championships since 2000 it feels like so I’m not really including them but USC usually delivered when it came to big games. ACC is complete arse outside of Florida State at the beginning of Dabo’s run. Dabo’s only problem is there’s usually a Pitt or UNC that tends to sneak up and steal a win from his squad for some random reason.
I’m inclined to believe they are.

Clemson hasn't lost a regular season game in 2years.
The "Clemsoning" thing is in the past, but the ACC is worse than usual the last 2years.
When they get to the bigger games in the last 5years, they perform well.
I would lean more toward USC than OU.
Can't stand Cowherd or any of those blowhards.

This isn’t necessarily a Cowherd thread but it is bouncing off a point he made about strong teams in weak conferences and the NFL players inside of them.

I think you're exactly right. Historically Miami and Florida State built dynasties using elite (and maybe sometimes questionable) recruiting to take advantage of a weak ACC, and right now it seems to be Clemson's turn. They all essentially built SEC caliber teams without having to worry about SEC-level competition within their own conference.
On the flip side, those random loses that you mentioned (like the North Carolina game last season) can almost automatically exclude them from playoff contention, so they've essentially still got to run the table.
Florida State going down when they did has been a huge boon for Clemson, and they've certainly been able to take full advantage.

Are they still saying USCs 1 BCS title and 2 appearances from 02-07 followed by meh was a dynasty? I know they havent won the titles but Oregon has been far more consistent in this age than USC.

Clemson didn’t really become elite with endless talent. Yes, they have had 3 exceptional QB’s in a row but they built up a lot of 2 & 3 star guys to get to where they are today.
Also Clemson is a poorer school (endowment wise), in a poor state, and sits in a small town. USC has endless money and it’s in the middle of a massive metro.

Based on their regular season schedule, I can think of 4-5 SEC teams that would have the exact same record.
Alabama
LSU
Georgia
Florida
Texas A&M (though I presume Texas A&M can, and often does, beat themselves)

Clemson is 4-1 in Semifinal games. 2-2 in National Championships. It’s not a fluke they are there.

Imagine Clemson having to play Florida, Auburn and Alabama EVERY year like LSU or LSU, Alabama and Georgia every year like Auburn. Sure they win their share, but they also lose their share. Can you imagine an alternate universe where Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Auburn got that ACC schedule? That's why I will have zero sympathy for them when they sleepwalk through another lose to a crappy ACC team. I would say that on average, during the years in question, the Pac 12 and the Big 12 were both way more competitive. USC had some catastrophic regular season losses against bottom feeders like Stanford (at the time) that kept them from more championships.

If would be nice if the SEC would grow a pair and throw Clemson an invite. Also, Clemson is 10-2 against the SEC since 2016 with both losses coming against Nat Champ winning teams

Sorry. You are stuck as the sole superpower in a truly mediocre conference. Regardless Ok - so let’s say you play LSU, Florida and Bama EVERY year for four years.Half of them at their stadium. Is your record still 10-2? And if not, how many playoff appearances were derailed in that four years because you lost to those big boys? And what about the let down games the next week against the Texas A&M/Mississippi State and Tennessee’s of the world. Clemson gets fat on chumps, they aren’t constantly in jeopardy like a top tier SEC team is.
