This is why you can't have nice things.

Even if Pearl hadn't gone to Auburn, there was literally ZERO chance he was coming back to Tennessee.

So do I, but volfan30 is an insufferable phaggot, what can you do?

The difference is that Butch's tangible results haven't been any better than Dooley's. Tyndall just hasn't had enough of an opportunity to piss people off yet.

Personally, I don't think Hart is long for the UT world.

He plays a far more interesting style and is a better coach according to many (based on his past coaching). His recruiting has been lightyears ahead of Zo's. But he's wayyyyyyy dirtier. FWIW, I didn't want Zo fired but I think Tyndall could work here if he wasn't so DUMB about his cheating. College basketball is a cesspool that makes college football look like a bunch of Trappist Monks but you gotta be smart enough not to get caught.

At any rate, 30 is a tad crazy if you haven't noticed already.

To be fair, Butch hasn't lost to Kentucky.

If its all WL, yes. He's doing much more than that program-wise.

He has to have a minimum of 2 more years.

That's who I wanted originally. I laughed when everyone said Howland was toxic but then we went out and hired that slimy toad Tyndall.

True. But if he loses to Vanderbilt this weekend that would be considerably worse than Dooley's loss to Kentucky.

I don't forecast that happening, but I never say never when it comes to Tennessee finding new ways to suck.

You have to take into account the intangibles with Butch. Ticket sales are up from avg of 89K in Dooley's last year to 99K this year, recruiting is exploding, former players are being welcomed back and actively supporting him.

Butch is also playing with a team that is composed of seniors who really haven't played at all. If you were at senior day, did you even know who 75% of those guys were? Almost all of them NEVER contributed. THAT is why this team has struggled where as other teams are not. Having EXPERIENCED upperclassmen is paramount to success in the SEC, and Butch has had to deal with Dooley's shite recruiting and play almost all freshmen and sophomores.

Don't bitch about Butch, he deserves another year with the fan base fully invested.

This is all true and why I haven't completely given up hope, but it's just that the on-the-field results give people pause, and I think understandably so. Especially when you look at the UF game from this year and the Vandy game last year -- winnable but slipped through their fingers.

All that stuff about experience and recruiting is absolutely true and why patience is warranted. The "FAHR BUTCH" crowd is clinically insane, but I can get why people are shifting uncomfortably in their seats somewhat.

I'm still hopeful, but whereas last year I thought it was just a matter of time, now I feel like it could go either way.

Auburn that UT is the second best job in the SEC and how he will always be a VFL.

First of all UT isn't the second best job.

UK, Florida, Arkansas and Mizzou are all better jobs.
Also VFL is the gayest saying of all time.

You can't discount the value of experience in games like those. Our upperclassmen were recruited into a system of negativity under Dooley. They quit, fought, and generally hated eachother and their coach. That type of upperclass leadership does not constitute a strong mental force to keep the team focused in those gut check moments.

Only this year have you seen that start to dissipate with the USCjr comeback. The UF game was the result of our OL getting absolutely manhandled, a QB who couldn't run, WRs who couldn't beat press man, and UF putting in a 2nd string QB that caught our defense by surprise.

I truly think that this team believes that they can win every game, and that is what has been missing for half a decade. A winning attitude can go a long way, and I think Butch has done a great job instilling that on players that frankly didn't give a shite under Dooley, and getting the younger players to buy-in
