Two things: frienzs (sp) has to have the best agent ever.
I don't buy the "Saban likes a challenge" thing. He left msu for LSU, clearly a step up. He left LSU for the nfl, clearly a step up. He left the nfl for bama which is arguably equal to LSU. It's not like he's out there hop scotching around. It would be a good assumption that had he not had pro aspirations he'd still be at LSU.

My predictions for fun:
1. Steve Sarkisian to USC
2. Kirby Smart to Mississippi State
3. Gary Patterson to Texas
4. Steve Spurrier retires at USCe, and Jr. takes over.

quote:Within the circles where he runs around here, he's pretty isolated from that kind of crap. Lives in Crown Pointe with the other millionaires, golfs at North River with the other millionaires, Terry does all his shopping and whatnot. Somebody buys his gas for him, mows his yard for him, cleans his house for him, buys groceries for him. Hell, the guy eats the same damn thing for every meal so it's not like he has to worry about running into crazy Updike types when he goes in Food World, Walgreens, or the Sack-O-Suds. Everywhere else he goes, he gets treated pretty normally without all the fawning fans.
he would like to live in a big town like Austin or Los Angeles where he could be more anonymous
I used to see him all the time at my previous job and he was just another guy in the crowd there. I mean, everyone knew who he was, but no one was crowding around him, screaming, staring, and begging for autographs.
On top of that, he's got a fat house on the lake, with a boat dock and all the amenities.
Yes, if he ran into Best Buy or Ryan's Steakhouse, he'd be in a fishbowl, but, seriously, why the hell would he want to go in those places in the first place?
Plus, in addition to everything else, as a state employee, he gets major discounts on golf at the Robert Trent Jones courses, so that's a major bonus for him. It saves him hundreds of dollars a year.

Coach Saban just wants to live like a normal person again. Los Angeles would offer him that. It is one of the few places in the country where that would be possible for him.

WTF is "normal" about LA?

Saban might jump to Texas or USC. I hear he doesn't like the Tuscaloosa fish bowl and would like to live in a big city.

Everything compared to Tuscaloosa. He is not a big star in LA. They have real stars. He would not have to live like a movie star in LA. They have those. Most people do not even speak English out there. There is a lot more going on than college football. It would be a chance for him to regain normalcy. Saban and USC is the perfect fit.

Of course you heard that on the ITAT board.

I'd love to hear where he heard that.

Hell, Saban left Miami to come to Tuscaloosa.
