As we are hearing so many current coaches who are on the so called "hot seat", we can also look at some strong Caliber coaches at lesser programs who are ready and on many AD's radar.

Bill Clark- UAB-younger coach who is disciplined and is a proven winner on and off the field with boosters as well as his players. Very well respected by his coaching peers.

Jeff Brohm-Purdue, WKU, first year at Purdue. Is destined for a top level program in some league. Very well organizational skills, sells his program and philosophy to recruits and their parents.

Mike Norvell-Memphis, young head coach who has continued the success afforded him when Justin Fuente left. Develops QB's well and recruits local kids very well while getting players to buy in.

Chad Morris-SMU, has not had great results but the talent left before he arrived was minimal. SMU is getting better and is competitive in most games. Morris made Dabo look good when Dabo needed to look good.

Many more ..who is on your list?

Go SEC and Good Luck to your teams this week,

Matt Campbell Iowa State. The Cyclones aren't the easy out they were before Campbell got there but they still have a way to go. He's brought them a long way up to decent already and they are getting better.

PJ Fleck-Rowing the boat at Minnesota now. The cupboard wasn't bare when he got there and they still look better than last year.

I have always thought Bill Clark is a good coach. He would be a good pick up for someone.

Dan Mullen-As a coach, Mullen has tutored several notable players, including quarterbacks Smith (Utah), Josh Harris (Bowling Green), Chris Leak (Florida), Heisman Trophy-winner Tim Tebow (Florida), and Dak Prescott (Mississippi State).

Mullen, along with San Francisco 49ers head coach Chip Kelly, and former Winnipeg Blue Bombers offensive coordinator Gary Crowton, are part of the so-called "New Hampshire mafia" as they all have strong connections to New Hampshire.[5]

Of your list Jeff Brohm is the best, by far. He has a Purdue team with meh talent playing exceptionally well. A&M would do well to make him their prime target. Considering their resources you'd think they'd already have someone of Brohm's caliber. Their AD must know shite about football.

I just hope Memphis can keep Norvell for one more year. Losing Norvell, Ferguson and Miller in one swoop would be crushing

Durkin is doing one helluva job turning Maryland from doormat to formidable in 2 short years.

Is Chad Morris going to be required to actually have a winning season before he is turning down giant P5 jobs?

I mean, I know SMU is a dumpster fire.........but he's 4-12 in the AAC there. He's 9-18 overall. His wins are
- North Texas (1-11)
- Tulane (3-9)
- @ North Texas (5-8)
- Liberty (1AA)
- Houston (9-4)
- @ Tulane (4-8)
- @ East Carolina (3-9)
- Stephen F. Austin (1AA)
- North Texas (1-2)

7 of his 9 wins are against Tulane (7-17), North Texas (7-21) or a 1AA school. Another is East Carolina (3-9). His only impressive win was over a faltering Houston team during their free-fall.

I'd be hesitant as shite about hiring that guy at this point. Total wild card.

I agree. June Jones had stopped working, so SMU was god awful when Morris showed up. But he's got to show more before deserving a big time P5 job. SMU has a great location and lots of resources.

Brohm is at the top of the list if he'd leave Purdue after one year. I like Norvell too.

Maryland looks really good so far and Durkin could be in line for a bigger job after the 2018 season.

ETA: Schiano will be a HC again really soon.

Yea, as of today the 2 guys who'd I'd be paying close attention to would be Brohm and Durkin.

However, Brohm will have been at Purdue for 1 season and Durkin is at a place that I'm guessing he thinks he can do some things at (he's already starting to sign some DMV kids, looks good to start this season, etc).

I'm not sure those are going to be easy hires in this cycle.

I agree. I don't think either of them will leave after this season but I also don't think either of them is at their final coaching destination by a long shot.

Maryland steamrolled the same Texas team that probably should have won at USC last week. Texas had 3 non offensive TDs against Maryland and still lost by double digits. That's a damn good football team.

I was extremely impressed with Maryland. They were athletic, fast and played hard as hell. They were not intimidated at all and they got after it.

You could also tell that even in just 2 years he has brought in some athletes that they have not had since Locksley was signing kids there.
