They talk about player safety yet Vic Hampton gets speared and no call and that tPOS gets to stay in the game after purposely trying to take out Clowneys knees

Maybe I'm in the minority here but it looked like clowney was chasing the qb , the oline players was chasing him and went for the block to keep clowney from hitting his qb. Didn't look like the oline players was watching to see if the ball was thrown before he blocked clowney. It ended up not being a necessary block but I don't think it was just a terrible malicious play..

I didn't think there was a penalty for blocking below the waist when it occurs near the LOS.

Below the waist from behind is a foul. Below the waist while facing the defender isn't unless another blocker is already engaged with the defender

OK I'll take your word in that. But I still don't think the olineman was trying to hurt him, looked like he was trying keep clowney from killing his qb.
