Seems odd, it's a quality bowl in quality location vs quality opponent .

All the UofL fans probably couldn't afford it after they lost their deposits in Miami.

Well most of us LSU fans are still recovering from the flood. So sometimes you have to make choices in life, rebuild your house or go to a football game.

Louisville doesn't travel well, they don't have a large fanbase.

LSU fans don't travel well when they are unhappy. They are unhappy.

Maybe they will move bowl games to home stadiums if this keeps up. also, cut down on bowl games altogether.

And the Liberty Bowl was sold out last year. It all depends on the matchup and location of the teams coming.

Well, back in the days of the old bowl system there was an actual reason to go as the winner of the Cotton Bowl or Holiday Bowl or Citrus Bowl could still be crowned the National Champion. In particular, I remember that UGA spoiled what would have been a national championship season for Texas in 1984 by upsetting them in the Cotton Bowl.

I don't think everyone fully realized what the playoff was taking from the tradition of the sport.
