All I know is if you can't see Jeremy Johnson has all the tools to be an elite QB, you know nothing about the game.

The SECRant in a nutshell...from my time here.

Beginning of 2009: Gus Malzahn is a high-school, gimmicky offense. His spread, sideline-to-sideline offense will never work in the SEC.

Auburn's offense then breaks records. Everyone labels Gus Malzahn a genius.

Beginning of 2010: Cam Newton couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. He won't be able to run Gus Malzahn's offense and he definitely won't be able to run on SEC defenses.

Auburn wins National Championship. Everyone labels Gus Malzahn a genius.

Beginning of 2011: Auburn won't be able to replace Cam Newton. Auburn's offense will struggle.

Auburn goes 8-5, offense struggles with no quarterback, Gus Malzahn moves to Arkansas State. Everyone labels Gus Malzahn overrated and a fraud. Apparently, SEC defenses have figured him out.

Beginning of 2013: Auburn's offense is terrible. No way will Gus Malzahn be able to dispplay a good offense. Their quarterback used to be a cornerback, and his offense has already been exposed.

Auburn wins SEC and goes to National Championship. Everyone labels Gus Malzahn a genius.

Beginning of 2014: Gus Malzahn is a genius and this should be his best offense in a while. Almost all offensive players return.

Auburn goes 8-5, largely because of the lackluster defensive performances. Gus Malzahn still labeled very good offensive coach.

Beginning of 2015: Gus Malzahn is a genius and his offense should click on all cylinders. Jeremy Johnson has talent, but is unproven, and they have all kinds of skill position players. Will Muschamp should also help out the defense.

Auburn struggles, mightily. Gus Malzahn is labeled a fraud. Apparently, SEC defenses have finally figured him out.

Posted by AgsNguyening online on 9/2/15 at 1:27 pm Everyone thinks that the story line is one of the following: TAMU new DC LSU new DC, will the offense improve Alabama QB questions Not nearly enough people have brought up the question marks at Auburn and I think it is about time. I alluded to this in another thread, but thought I would bring it here instead. Boom will improve the defense, I am sure. He is a good coach. The problem is your offense. 2014 - 35.5 points per game 2013 - 39.5 points per game The issue is that in 2013 you had 19 turnovers (0 T/O margin) but in 2014 you had 27 turnovers (+7 margin). Take away that 8 turnover swing and your scoring offense drops to about 30 points per game which would knock your offense out of the top 50 in the nation. You have a new QB who, while talented, isn't a sure thing to make up nearly 100 points for the season from your miracle year to this year, especially with your losses in skill positions and 2 OL starters. Defense improved, but not enough to make up for an offense that is on the decline. Auburn finishes 6th or 7th in the west. Louisville - W Jacksonville State - W LSU - L MSU - W San Jose State - W Kentucky - W Arkansas - L Ole Miss - L TAMU - L UGA - L Idaho - W Alabama - L 6-6 (2-6)

Gus Malzahn didn't coach at Auburn.

Scot Loeffler was the offensive coordinator.

Because the chest thumping by Auburn fans on going back to "Auburn football" with a pro-style run first offense and stealing the Stache from Atlanta for an elite defense doesn't fit the current narrative of the high school offense being the greatest thing ever.

Just like they skip over the chest thumping for Kheil and how they "stole" him from Arkansas, next Cam, etc.

2 SEC wins in 3 seasons.

3-9 (0-8)
7-6 (2-6)
1-3 (0-1)

A whopping 11-18 (2-15) start to Bret Bielema's career at Arkansas. Auburn had more total wins in Gus Malzahn's first season than Bret Bielema's entire tenure at Arkansas, and had quadruple the amount of SEC wins when counting the SEC Championship victory.

So, tell me, why do you feel entitled to judge the success of another football team?

I never mentioned anything about success, only Auburn's continual delusion and chest pumping.

But by all means deflect instead of owning the delusion.

Did you really refer to Auburn fans with this?

Arkansas fans STILL beat their chest about Bret Bielema's "greatness" after an abysmal start, and consistent failure.

The only thing he's pushing towards right now is beating Auburn because he "hates them" and the only thing Arkansas fans can cling to right now is a possibility Gus Malzahn fails.
