You realize Baylor was a no one in the 90's bruh. You cant base something that was over 20 years ago.

And their streak ends in 2016, calling it now.

I think most Bama fans don't expect #1 class in 2016. Too many connections with talent at other schools. UGA may take the top spot. That said, Bama won't finish worse than #4 in 2016 recruiting.

He did okay instate here. He just set his sights too high most of the time.

He brought in difference makers immediately. Jerrell Powe, Michael Oher, Peria Jerry in the first class (ok, Powe took another year to qualify). He followed that up with Cordera Eason, Kentrell Lockett, Markeith Summers, Dexter McCluster.

He couldn't coach worth a shite but he sure could recruit.

It won't be denial when Steele steps on the sidelines, I saw enough of him at Baylor to know he's not cut out for it.

How freaking long ago was that? I lost count how many years ago....and when did we hire him as a HC? I'll hang up and listen

They were a no one before he got there, he made them hit rock bottom. Also made Clemson's D hit rock bottom. Coach O is a good hire just don't see how yall can spin Steele over Chief is all.

He has never been a good coach, you don't go from HC to coaching LB's if you're good. It's like going from CEO to intern.

I know that. Most of those guys weren't instate. Like I said he had high taste with a beer budget(not his fault Boone was a incredible a-hole). Also I think Peria was originally a Cutiffe recruit but didn't qualify initially.

Interesting. What would you say was his biggest recruiting success at Ole Miss? Oher was likely going to Ole Miss no matter what. Peria may have been on board beforehand.

Powe? I seem to recall he had to do some backflips to get this guy into school. Powe is O's Eddie Lacy.

My comments weren't initially about top recruiting classes, rather the claim that Bama was in tDecline. The other poster made it about #1 recruiting classes.

He had two top 15 D's at Clemson before his last year there. Having one bad game as coordinator doesn't mean you suck at it. But, whatever makes you feel better

And where did I say that?? One game doesnt make or break a coach, if you think so then you are just delusional. Miles wanted Steele b/c he knows are schemes well, can recruit MUCH better than Chavis and we still have our entire D staff intact that were under Chavis, with the exception of a better coach/recruiter for our DL now in O. Don't expect any drop off with our D.

Honestly he was in a no win situation roster wise so he didn't have enough time to get us competitive from a talent standpoint. His best pull with no previous connection? Tough to say. Ted Laurent maybe? His best class was 06 IMO. He was able to get some underrated guys out of Florida and Georgia that became studs.

It's not just one game but that's not going to change your mind, it's already set. Congratulations with the hire and good luck with Steele.
