So not one athlete that played for AU in the past but didn't graduate from AU is considered an alum?

WOW!

I didn't know all those NFL players that played for AU - all graduated too. Good Job Auburn!

How is this ground breaking news? If you didnt graduate...you dont get to call yourself an alum.

you don't have to graduate to be an alum - just a former student

An alumnus (pl. alumni), according to the American Heritage Dictionary, is "a graduate of a school, college, or university".[1]

I think Chuck considers himself an AU alum though. And, I think the media members consider him one as well. Otherwise, why the hell would the media track ole' Chuck down every freaking time there is discourse at Auburn. They can't wait till Chuck gets his sayso. Like it or not Charles Barkley is a mouthpiece for your program.

shite we've got ours too. They just happen to be drunks (Stabler/Namath).

several auburn fans in this thread apparently don't

typically it refers to a graduate but the definition only requires you went to school there

So when Cam Newton doesn't graduate I guess he won't be an Auburn alum either, huh aubbies?

You know what I find interesting about all of this?

Cam Newton - who will win the Heisman for AU, and possibly lead them to a SECC and NC and go down as their greatest player EVER-

Will have spent all of 12 months on the plains.

Because you know after he declares for the draft, he won't be matriculating any longer.

12 months.
