The loss to UF in '08 in the SECCG made me physically sick, but it made beating them in '09 that much better. The lows make the highs that much better... as is true in life.
There I go gettin all philosophical again

Pretty much the only program that doesn't expect to lose to bama. Everyone else pretty much lays down and takes it.
it hurts, but honestly, everyone was expecting our year to be next year. this year was lagniappe
yes, to both comments. LSU will be undefeated when Bama comes to town. LSU will win. From that moment the LSU fans will breathe again. Until LSU gets over Bama, they cant take a full breath. LSU will beat Alabama, with all the glare of the national spotlight on BOTH teams, AGAIN.

I thopught from the beginning they were the better team. I knew we could win, but only if we got a couple of breaks. They didnt need any breaks. I thought we played our best and was proud of the effort. 94 on the other hand......
Goddammit why not go for two??!!

Yes. No one saw the biggest let down in program history coming. Next year will be the first time in 4 years that we'll have a legit QB.

Ive seen Bama run the SEC gauntlet twice and lose to UF in ATL. In 94, and in 08. I couldnt imagine being undefeated and losing the BCS championship.
I dont think the LSU fan base is going to be able to pull it together for next Season. The rant has been in constant meltdown mode. Ive never seen anything like it.
When UF lost in 09 and Bama ruined their 1st shot at an undefeated championship they handled it alot better.

We are handling it fine, we just have the same 10-15 posters that won't stfu.....
Once the spring game hits, all will be good, but that means we got another 57 or so days of listening to that shite.

What really sucks is winning "THE GAME OF THE CENTURY" and then a month later find out the game was meaningless.
This is what most LSU fans are pissed about, and IMO with a decent argument. The BCS has built itself on the motto that "every game counts" and that is the main reason fans love college football. That wasn't the case this year and is the reason that the BCS should be scrapped for a 6 team playoff.
I can promise you the meltdown from Bama fans would be just as bad had y'all won on 11/5 and lost on 1/9.

quote:It is pretty rough. You hear people say stuff like "If you have a life, that stuff doesn't matter, get over it." For a lot of us though, even though we have good jobs, families, a social life etc. College football and our irrational attachment to our team IS part of that life. When you get so close to glory (It would have been one of the best accomplishments for not just any LSU team but ANY college football team EVER to have beaten all those Bowl Champions on the way to a BCSNC) and then you're left with nothing, that's hard pain to let go of. A subpar recruiting haul isn't doing much to lighten the mood here. According to one media outlet, 5 of the top six prospects in Louisiana will not be playing for LSU next season.

I can't speak for all the dumb shite said on the rant, but if you can't see why someone would be pissed about JJ being in then you are an idiot.

Consistant not constant meltdown. Its the greiving process. Everyone heals at different rates. Let the dead bury the dead, time to join the living again, look forward not back. 2012, Season of Redemption.

Well LSU was able to win the SEC and make the BCS Championship game with mediocre to downright abysmal QB play.
If LSU can get even serviceable QB play from Mett, we have a great chance to go undefeated again.
We have the defense, we have 5 talented RBs to pound the ball. The only question mark, again, is QB play. It can only improve.

It depends on how the fans and team react.
In 09, Bama used the UF/Utah debacles as a rallying point and it led to a championship.

LSU will be back in the NC game this season with the emergence of 3 things:
1) A go to WR (Beckham or Landry should be able to do this)
2) Mettenberger being at least a little above average for an SEC QB
3) Young depth in the secondary continuing the tradition of dominant play. I think Simon can be close to the lockdown corner Claiborne was but Mathieu does not need to be out there. I like him better close to the line. Look for a young guy like Jalen Collins to step up.
