Anti-freshman bias I'm sure. He was widely expected to win it going away. His numbers are by far the most impressive overall of all the finalists.

A lot of times these awards are biased against underclass men because they don't wanna give them award multiple times and figure they'll win it later.

The Heisman did that crap for years, but luckily sort of got over that in recent history.
