In 1990, it was announced that South Carolina and Arkansas would be joining the Southeastern Conference and that the conference would split into an Eastern and a Western division to create the first ever conference championship game in major college football. Thought of as a joke of an idea at the time, over 30 years later the game has become one of the prime events of the college football season. National title implications abound in this game, legends have been made, and 30 young men have been named the game's most valuable player. Here is a thread honoring those men as many of them have gone on to become giants of the sport:

- Antonio Langham, DB, Alabama

- Terry Dean, QB, Florida

- Ellis Johnson, DT, Florida

- Danny Wuerffel, QB, Florida

- Danny Wuerffel, QB, Florida

- Peyton Manning, QB, Tennessee

- Peerless Price, WR, Tennessee

- Freddie Milons, WR, Alabama

- Rex Grossman, QB, Florida

- Matt Mauck, QB, LSU

- Musa Smith, RB, Georgia

- Justin Vincent, RB, LSU

- Jason Campbell, QB, Auburn

- D.J. Shockley, QB, Georgia

- Percy Harvin, WR, Florida

- Ryan Perriloux, QB, LSU

- Tim Tebow, QB, Florida

- Greg McElroy, QB, Alabama

- Cam Newton, QB, Auburn

- Tyrann Mathieu, DB, LSU

- Eddie Lacy, RB, Alabama

- Tre Mason, RB, Auburn

- Blake Sims, QB, Alabama

- Derrick Henry, RB, Alabama

- Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama

- Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia

- Josh Jacobs, RB, Alabama

- Joe Burrow, QB, LSU

- Najee Harris, RB, Alabama

- Bryce Young, QB, Alabama

Jason Campbell, QB, Auburn

I thought that dude would never graduate, props to him for being the gladdest I have ever been to see an Auburn qb graduate.

He’s been very involved in charity work in NOLA since Katrina. He may not have panned out in pro ball but it’s not like he turned into a bankrupt junkie
