Yeah, but the silence has finally been broken from the Newton camp. That's what Auburn fans like myself are glad to see.

No it hasn't...

It appeared that the reporter caught the attorney out in the parking lot and got lucky.

There was no official statement, no quotes from the Newton's, only a lot of lawyer talk:

"I would suggest to you that what Cecil Newton has said to the NCAA has been truthful."

"Cam Newton knew nothing about any money discussions...if any discussions were had."

Officially, no, the silence hasn't been broken, you are correct.

Unofficially, however, the silence has been broken.

I'm taking what I can get at this point, Rummy. Quit killing my dreams, brah.

The most pertinent question "Did Cecil ask for payment from MSU?" was not asked. Obviously there were some "off limits" boundaries established in order to grant the interview.

Some lawyer's are great in situations like that i.e., being caught off guard in a parking lot, but others...eh.

This is the same reporter that wrote the article last week that said Cecil had "conversations" with State about money. The reporter, an Auburn grad that still actively supports Auburn Journalism program, happens to ambush the Newton's attorney in a parking lot? Yeah, right. This was a strategic release of information orchestrated by the Auburn/Newton camp.

Really? THAT'S how they do it?

Next to his car on a grass median?

If so, then that is more pathetic than the 'information' that he gave out.

Yep. No question. How many lawyers have you EVER seen answer questions about anything in a fricking parking lot when they are unprepared? I'm telling you. This was staged.

Now. With that said, I'm still glad that they said something! There may have been a lot of lawyerisms in what he said, but the one thing he said emphatically was that the Newton's hadn't taken ANY money from anyone. That means the USC styled NCAA death sentence is off the table.
