If you believe his dad, and I'm not necessarily indicating that anyone should, it wasn't Florida who informed him.

im actually pretty damn happy about the chris rumph hire dont think williams was much help in trying to get cowart and cece he found out in those long 2 months recruiting was not for him and bolted for the nfl first chance he gotThis post was edited on 2/9/15 at 12:46 pm

His father also claimed they didn't know Rumph at all. That clearly wasn't the case, CeCe had been recruited by Rumph and mentioned that in a number of tweets.

You know what? Fine. You're right. McElwain was completely upfront and honest about the DL coach and Jefferson & family are just drawing this out to create a stain on both his name and the name of the university.
He and Willis, together, should prove to be an excellent disruptive force in 2015.

Option A) Jefferson was aware of the DL change and has spent that last several days badmouthing the Florida program
Option B) McElwain intentionally misled a 5* recruit in order to secure his commitment
Whomever you believe, it's a black eye for someone affiliated with the Gator program.
