They were a good combo. Gary knows his shite more than any color analyst I think. He just seems annoying when he's paired with an overweight frog-throated senile old man who can't pronounce 1/4th of the rosters.

People aren't exaggerating about CBS broadcasts taking the longest.
Games will start on ABC and ESPN at the exact same time as CBS and the ABC/ESPN game is ending and the CBS game is early 4th quarter.

I would take Herbie or Todd Blackledge 1,000 times before I would want to listen to Gary again.
He called Eddie Jackson, "Eddie Louis" 3x before correcting his name. Because Eddie had just tackled Ricardo Louis.
After having Bama so many times this year, you would think they could get names right.

They've become more comical to me more than anything. In a really tense, close game, they are annoying as I'll get out, but eh, I don't notice them as much except laughing at the way Verne goes "WOWWW" and their reactions and pronunciations of players' names can be pretty hilarious sometimes. But yeah, I can definitely understand why people are p*ssed about them commentating again.
