TEAM COMMENTARY IN 140 CHARACTERS OR LESS

Alabama: Anthony Grant has made just one NCAA Tournament in five years at Alabama, which is why he'll enter this season under pressure.

Arkansas: Mike Anderson has the pieces to make his first NCAA Tournament at Arkansas thanks, in part, to the return of in-state big Bobby Portis.

Auburn: The arrival of Bruce Pearl has energized Auburn's program and will almost certainly make the Tigers relevant on and off of the court.

Florida: Billy Donovan has turned into one of the sport's most consistent coaches, and he'll probably make a fifth straight Elite Eight this season.

Georgia: The majority of the team that finished tied with Kentucky in the SEC last season is back, meaning Mark Fox should make the NCAA Tournament.

Kentucky: Kentucky won't go undefeated, probably. But the Wildcats will have a better shot to do it this season than they ever did last season.

LSU: The return of Jordan Mickey and Jarell Martin should give Johnny Jones a great chance to make his first NCAA Tournament at LSU.

Ole Miss: The post-Marshall-Henderson era at Ole Miss is now officially underway. Who knows how it'll go? But it'll surely be quieter.

Mississippi State: Rick Ray knew he had a tough job when he took it, and he's still in a total rebuilding mode that's going to take time.

Missouri: Losing Frank Haith to Tulsa probably won't hurt Mizzou as much as losing Jabari Brown and Jordan Clarkson to the NBA Draft will hurt Mizzou.

South Carolina: Frank Martin enters his third season at South Carolina still looking for his first postseason appearance since leaving Kansas State.

Tennessee: I'm not saying Donnie Tyndall is Bruce Pearl, but he's the closest thing to BP that UT could've possibly hired when Cuonzo Martin left.

Texas A&M: Things haven't been going well at Texas A&M under Billy Kennedy, and the loss of Jamal Jones certainly won't help reverse the trend.

Vanderbilt: Kevin Stallings lost two assistants this offseason, but that's nothing compared to all of the players he lost before last season.

Thats the truth. Who do you have in your way to early pre-season rankings?

I wonder when the comparisons to the 2012 team will start? That was easily UK's best squad in modern history. I don't know if the 2014-15 Cats can eclipse them.

They will have better depth, but won't have the transcendent stars like AD and MKG.

I think that Bahamas trip is going to be huge because it gives Cal an oppourtunity to test out certain lineups and they will get to play against some actual pro's.

Basically the same thing as Parrish. Some of these team's you just have to see play a couple times to really get a grasp on them.

If it helps I catch Parrish on the radio every once and a while and he seems to be in love with the Tyndall hire.

Chris Dortch, the editor of Blue Ribbon, joined us today. Saw Vols Fr. Detrick Mostella at Rocky Top League last night.

Dortch says Mostella, who was a top 40 recruit, is most college ready scorer Vols have signed in last 10 years.

Some people think he may start over Robert Hubbs (who is still getting healthy). Going to see him play Josh Selby's team tomorrow night in the RTL.

Travis Ford said he was the best wing scorer in the class. Very interested to see him play.

How are y'all's non-con schedules shaping up?

Mizzou's should be decent. So far, aware of:

* @OU
* Okie State in KC
* Xavier at home
* Maue Tournament (Ariz/KState/Purdue/BYU/Pitt/San Diego St/Chaminade/MU)
* Illinois in STL

We pushed our home game against NC State off to next year. Really gonna be an interesting year for Mizzou in terms of basketball. Expectations aren't very high as far as record goes for me, but am excited to see how Anderson molds this team into an actual team.

I think we are in for a rough year. Who the hell is going to create offense for our team?

I hear ya and I really don't know. Will be huge if Cam gets his waiver, but even then I don't know.

I'd say most of the fan base is happy with the hire. We didn't set the world on fire but I think Tyndall has some potential and I like his brand of ball.

We kick off the season against VCU at the Veterans Classic and host K State at home later in the season. Outside of that I'm not sure who the bigger OCC games will be yet

VCU (Annapolis, MD)
Orlando Classic (Kansas, Michigan State, Ga. Tech, Marquette)
Kansas State
Butler
@ NC State

Not one of our better OOC slates.

I dunno. That sounds pretty solid to me. Think I'd rather see VCU and NC State at home over K State and Butler, but regardless, solid lineup if you ask me, especially considering you'll probably get kU or MSU at least.
