Carl Lawson will practice for the first time today, which should give our guys a lift," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said. "We'll see where he's at. I'm not going to say right now that he's going to play this Saturday but the fact that he's out there practicing will be good from a leadership standpoint if nothing else." How ready Lawson will be for Saturday's game against No. 19 Ole Miss remains to be seen, but just having him in pass rushing situations would be a huge boost for a Tiger defense that's 13th in the SEC with 11 sacks. "He's been doing some things with the trainers and all that trying to get himself in shape," Malzahn said. "There's nothing like getting out there and practicing and that's why I'm hesitant to say right now he'll play Saturday. It is a good note he's going to practice with us." - See more at: LINK

Is rushing this guy back really in the best interest of the player? If he plays Saturday he will be dinged up again by the 2nd quarter. Everything Auburn hoped and expected this season to be is not possible. Let the guy get actually healthy and help your defense next season. A 3/4 speed Lawson isn't Auburn's answer and it only risks getting him hurt again.

I seriously doubt that the staff is "rushing" him back out there. His prognosis has been that he would probably be back this season, and Gus hasn't said he will play/start Saturday. He's just been cleared to practice.

Acetabulum wear prematurely due to over twerking too.

Nobody knows exactly what his injury was or how severe. For all we know he could have played 2 weeks ago

I would hope he is not rushed. I think he got cleared for practice by Dr. Andrews last week.

It is a tough call for Lawson. You get the feeling the kid really wants to play. He also has to look to his future. He probably needs at least a few games this season combined with a good combine to get a good shot at a decent spot in the NFL draft.

I think if he can play three games this season he goes pro. The risk is too great to come back, given his injury history.

That's good to hear, both for AU and for Carl. Just getting back on the field - providing some energy and leadership to that defense may do wonders for their production on Saturday.

Your probably right. I wasn't thinking about him going pro.
