While we have gotten a lot of hype on here, I think our the national media hasn't really hyped us as a whole up too much. The Coaches Poll pretty much puts us where we belong at this point.

I also don't think most of our hype is due to the Auburn game. Most of WILSON's hype is due to that game, but the team's hype is mostly due to last season. We have the majority of the team back and the most immediately obvious hole is Mallett, so that is where the Wilson hype kicks in. But to say that our hype is based solely on that game is a bit short sighted.

I do think we can live up to the national hype. I don't know if ANY team could live up to the hype displayed on this board though ;)

Arky has a lot of hype based on one game where their current starting QB played really well in. However, it was also a game where their defense gave up 65pts.

#14 is a good starting point. While I believe Arkansas should be ranked higher, it is definitely an under the radar type ranking.

Wilson gets a little hype because he has been in our system for 4 years now. He knows the offense and is more of a running threat than Mallett ever dreamed of being.

The key for Arkansas is not going to be the QB, it is going to be the Oline. If they gel early and get things together in fall camp, Arkansas will have a shot at doing big things this year.

This Arkansas team is built to win on the road. A good veteran defense and very solid special teams play. The Hogs went 4-1 in the regular season last year away from home. If they can do the same this year and sweep at home again, watch out.

Bama rarely if ever lives up to the own hype our own fans put on their shoulders.

Fully agree about being out of the spotlight.

It gives us (the team/staff) a chance the take care of business without everything being picked apart like the last few seasons. Even last year, when things were falling apart, every SEC story line would jump from how great Cam was to what happened to Florida "the cause of the decline."

We FINALLY have a season with very little hype. Most people don't expect much and I couldn't be happier.

LSU is being given a lot of love nationally and the fans are eating this shite up. Most are already treating the Oregon game like an automatic win and many fans talk about this defense like we're returning 3 All-Americans instead of losing 3. Early word on Jefferson is he's still missing passes badly in practice and the back ups look much better. Same old story there. The defense has some major holes to fill and the offense only has ONE proven WR and ZERO proven RBs. I'm optimistic at best at this point.

blah blah blah

Florida isn't even being mentioned as one of the top teams in the East and everyone thinks they're a year or two away. I think they'll be the surprise of the season.

Clueless diatribe on LSU ... nothing based on any facts or statistics ... especially on JJ

Called out as a know-nothing Nega-Tiger

I only agree with one point this moe makes ... and that's about Florida ... I'm leery of this game for LSU as it comes during one Tough October

Now for the rest of the positive fans in our forum who are "eating this shite up" as Moe states

Please take NOTE OF THE EVIDENCE:

These are facts that cannot be denied!

LSU has been "underrated" by the media and the polls these past two years ... Yet have finished MANY ranking points above their Preseason Rankings when the Final Polls came out ... Look it up ... I posted details on this last week

I hear explanations about wudda, cudda, shudda lost several games ... but face the facts ... we're a championhip program ... year in and year out ... LSU does what winners do ... We win

We finished 8th last season after the Preseason Polls didn't even have us sniffing anything close to Top 10.

We overachieved ... again

This season we're # 4 Coaches ... Likely # 6 in the AP ... maybe # 7 ... we'll see in Mid Aug

That's not too high ... and it's not too low

It's just about right and we deserve that Top 5

With just a few small breaks, this team will be lighting up the scorebard averaging 35 ppg and allowing our usual less than 20 ... an average was 19 points allowed over the past 4 seasons ...

We'll be favored to win almost every game ...

Do we deserve a Top 5 ranking ... Damn skippy!

Do we deserve the love ... GD right we do

AP poll comes out in Mid August ... Will it validate LSU ... who cares ... LSU is gonna roll this year and ONLY get better game after game.

We just keep winning ... The LSU way ... and the "ships" will come!

I'm not going to paste your incoherent dribble. I do like how I'm a "know-nothing Nega-Tiger" because I pointed out the glaring holes on this 2011 team. As for the JJ comments. Those weren't said by me. It was said by people that actually attended the practices. People that aren't in the business of rumor mongering coach.

I have read every practice update and have not seen this anywhere

The guy from LSU's scout site tweeted it a few days ago. I've personally talked to 2 local media guys that have seen practices and said he's still having trouble hitting guys in stride. I hope the kid is a world beater for LSU's sake but I'm just not sold yet.

What is the deal with Mett? You guys had to think he would be starting or have a good chance to start when you took the chance on him.... I agree with you, from what we have seen, Jefferson does not have the talent to lead LSU. His talent is below the talent of the team...

frick... where to begin. Word on some of the premium boards is his attitude is shite. Pretty much expected to be handed the job and found out that's not how Les rolls. However, I think if JJ continues down the path he was on last year Lee gets a shot but on a short leash. Then and ONLY then will we see Mett. I've said all along that if we see Mett getting significant snaps this year it pretty much means we're fricked.

You would think that would NOT be the case with him getting another chance... He probably would have started at GA last year but screwed that up.

How many chances are you suppose to get?

SUPPOSEDLY it all started when he enrolled in January and treated his classes like they were optional. Another thing Les doesn't frick around with.

LSU was underrated in the past, ipso facto they must be underrated this year.

Remember Auburn 2007? They ended the year on a high note and their new Tony Franklin offense performed well against a ranked team in their bowl and that translated into a high ranking to start 2008. Hype surrounding the 2007 team which went 9-4 but looked good at the end of the year turned into a top 10 ranking in most polls to start 2008. We all know how that team turned out.

If you honestly think that it only takes a few small breaks for an offense that barely averages 20 points to average 35 points, I want to know what you are smoking. LSU scored above 35 points last year against ULM, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M yet this year you are going to average better than that. You are talking about leap frogging about 3/4 of the teams in college football with the same QB and the same offensive system and without a proven commodity at RB and having lost some of your better WRs.

LSU will be good this year, but the facts that are based on have nothing to do with how underrated you were in the past. They have to do with a highly talented defense and an offense that SHOULD be competent enough to at least not be a burden on the defense as it has been for three years.
