Every Tech fan I've met either went there or had a family member that did.

I almost went there. Does that count?
One of my fondest memories was being there in 95 on a Thursday night game when they kicked the shite out of a ranked Maryland team.

I didn't grow up in Georgia and live in Texas. Not many opportunities to meet UGA grads. Almost all analysts and managers that work in my industry have degrees in engineering.

I don't decide what titles the school claims but I would think the asterisk in 1942 would be the fairly large war being faught. Not being voted number two in the AP despite having 2 more wins and actually playing a bowl game.

O'Leary's first year. Damn good coach. Tech fans should have fought to get him back, in my opinion. Damn good coach. And got Goff fired.

Sure, anybody that dislikes UGA on this board is eligible to be a GT fan.

Just stop. Y'all went back and claimed 1942 sometime in the 80s.
Ohio State didn't play a bowl that season because the Big 10 didn't allow its members to play in bowls until the 1947 season. There's this myth perpetuated by UGA fans that the Rose Bowl chose Georgia over the Big 10 champ.

No shite. You fooled me.

You probably didn't have season tickets for football while at Tech.

And you are still looking for the right guy in Houston.

I actually went to all the home games. As far as the right guy reference, I know you are still disappointed that I don't want to see your dick, but I'm not into the gay scene. I happily married a lovely Texas girl.

Wow,YOU really are obsessed with UGA and several polls did indeed put UGA at #1 and you know had the AP waited till after the bowl season UGA probably would have been voted #1 and a case can be made for '46 as well.

1942: Wally Butts wins his first SEC championship. Before the bowls (Georgia would win the Rose Bowl that year), the Berryman, DeVold, Houlgate, Poling, Litkenhaus and Williamson polls declared Georgia national champions. Among other polls, the AP and NCF declared Ohio State the winner. The Helms poll declared Wisconsin its national champ. While the AP-happy historians declare OSU the only champ that year, many folks - including the University - declare a split between Georgia and the Buckeyes in 1942. Our final record was 11-1.

1946: The one that really REALLY chafes me. We went UNDEFEATED AND UNTIED in '46, including winning the Sugar Bowl 20-10 over UNC. Notre Dame and Army split the major polls despite having a tie apiece, and either ND or Army didn't even go to a bowl. The only poll with sense that year was the Williamson, who declared us national champs. If we got our hackles up like Auburn did in 2004, we'd declare ourselves national champs like they do. Too much class, perhaps?

Well... you probably met about 25,000 Georgia grads and their kids at the Tech homegames.

You just have to open your mouth and introduce yourself to the person that you are sitting next to.

The AP also didn't publish polls after the bowl games. If they did UGA would have been number 1. Also, like I already said, I don't care about 1942. The world was at war and the best athletes were fighting Germany.

None of those were polls. Only 2 existed at the time and Ohio State got the one that mattered with the hardware.

1990 national championship in football should have been outright. Colorado was 11-1-1 with the aid of the Mizzou fifth down. Should have been 10-2-1. Georgia Tech was 11-0-1 and the only undefeated team. When was the last time UGA ranked number 1? (Not including number of t-shirts sold at Walmart in the state of Georgia)

What's really funny is that other SEC schools don't scheduled home/home with GT. Why wouldn't they want to come play in the recruiting hotbed of Atlanta. Could it be they don't want to have to deal with that offense?

Be easy on the UGA fans. They have had to watch GT, Clemson, UT, Auburn and Florida win national championships since 1980. Even when they had excellent recruiting classes such as the famous dream team class.

Its tough on them. They are sensitive. They are especially on edge knowing this year with all those players returning for their senior year and AN EXCEPTIONALLY WEAK arse SCHEDULE theyll still have to lose to Bama, get shut out of the playoffs, lose all that senior talent and go back to a mediocre team next year. AKA even when they finally get the right pieces personnel wise they will still end up short.
