Cam Newton won't make a good NFL quarterback

Cam does not have a good throwing motion.
Cam's passing game is working now, because of the tremendous threat he poses with his running.
That will not be the case in the NFL, where speed and strength are abundant at every position on the defense. He will have to earn his keep primarily as a pocket passer (Vick and McNabb), and he just doesn't have those kind of skills.

True. I think it will take him around 1-2 years to get his motion down and have a legit shot at getting a starting role.

Guys like Luck will last a lot longer on NFL rosters. Quick throwing motion and ability to read a D is tops. Cam is an amazing athlete but AU receivers are getting open due to the respect Cam demands as a runner. That lets him throw to wide open guys much like Tebow did. He wont have that respect in the NFL.
He could have sucess in the Michael Vick mold. Wen he leads an NFL team to a playoff win, I wil buy in.

I think he will.
But, I would be VERY interested to see how he performs with a normal OL instead of the one he has. The linemen as a group should be awarded the Heisman.

His throwing motion is fine....
What are you talking about?
The main strike against him is the question "Can he read defenses"?

Agreed. He hasn't had to do a whole lot of decision making in the current offense. It'll take some time.

WTF?? There's absolutely NOTHING wrong with his throwing motion. Where do you guys get this from??
Dude has one of the smoothest, short and compact throwing motion a QB can have.

Cam will only measure his NFL success by the amount of money he gets.
He doesn't give a frick about being successful on the field.
Sound familiar LSU & Raiders fans?

Let me translate some of the comments on here. "he doesn't have a good throwing motion" and "he can't read defenses" can be translated as. "He probably won't be a good quarterback in the nfl because he's black".

I think in this case it's "we have talked shite about him all year, got our hopes up each week that some team would find a way to slow him down, instead each week we have watched him treat SEC defenses like they are children, none of our teams have ever had a player that could hope to compare with him, our only hope at redemption is that he is not good at the next level".

This is absolutely absurd! Race was not meant to be interjected into this thread---in fact I have never thought about the race of football players.
The same "throwing motion" argument would apply to Tim Tebow, and the "reading defenses" argument would apply to most college quarterbacks.
It sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder, and you are using this forum to further your agenda.

LOL
He'll do fine, better than fine. One of a kind talent usually succeeds.

trust me I have no racial agenda and to be honest black quarterbacks aren't usually as successful in the pros. I'm just saying there are definitely stereotypes about black quarterbacks in college. For example, black quarterbacks usually have "poor mechanics", they are always "dual threats" whether it's true or not, and when comparing a black quarterback to another quarterback they are always compared to another black quarterback. I honestly don't really care. I just think it's funny. To the average fan that doesn't know otherwise, Jordan jefferson is a dual threat and Aaron Murray is a pro style pocket passer. The odds that the OP made a generalization are a lot greater than the odds that he is actually a qualified source on "throwing motions".

I am not an "expert" on quarterbacks and quarterback throwing motion; however, I've seen countless quarterbacks going back to Y.A. Title in the 1950's. I know what a "pure" passing motion is.
As far as my comparisons, perhaps I should have used additional examples besides Michael Vick and Randall Cunningham. I could have thrown in Tim Tebow and a number of other white running quarterbacks from the past.
Sorry if I touched a racial nerve---didn't mean to.
