Well said.

Though I will say that Cam is a showboat and a big time shite talker on the field. Then he smiles when he beats you.

That really rubbed people the wrong way in 2010.

He is in the MVP discussion because he is a huge part of one of the best rushing offenses in the NFL. It has been 6 years and people still don't fully understand how Cam affects a game. NFL coaches, pundits, college coaches, trant, etc

Everyone I know likes Cam. Dude is a decent QB and seems to be maturing as a person. This "SEC fan" loved watching him play at Auburn (except against LSU). He was a man amongst boys.

I seem to remember a passage about the fools who babel and pray in public and them already receiving their award

Heart question there. Kind of hard to spread the gospel when you can't advocate in public.

He brings great PR to the NFL, so they make sure his every good deed is publicized.

I'd say, in today's climate coupled with the MSU boosters offer, it's almost unreasonable to expect he played for free.

You don't have the story correct.

MSU couldn't get the deal done. Hence, Cam's dad had pitched MSU on pay for play, and MSU couldn't close. That is a major burned bridge.

He's now going to spurn MSU and go to another SEC school or Oklahoma or something and take money? You don't think Cecil felt pretty shitty about his spot at that point? The only protection was MSU's own vulnerability, but I'm pretty sure they felt the story would get out at some point and whatever school he was at would get a long look (just as happened).

Auburn came in and the scenario was revealed to AU compliance pretty much at the outset. It's basically the only play the Newtons had that made sense.

This wasn't SMU where everyone knew everyone else's deals but nobody wanted to frick them over.

Nobody argues that.

After all. He was on scholarship right?

It'd take more than a scholarship for me to go to Mississippi St too.

He kind of was. He's even big on the NFL field. Dude is just big.

And I am the same 6'5" height but 10 lbs heavier. Body fat might be slightly different between us. Slightly.

Just slightly.

I love threads on trant about Cam, usually bama fans will come with gnashing of teeth. Yep, this thread delivers also.

Have seen more Bama fans say they like/love him than say they dislike him.

He is bigger than all NFL secondary guys and a large chunk of linebackers. He is basically built like a rush defensive end. It is wild.

Dude is one of God's freaky experiment type athletes.

I try to dislike Newton, mainly because the Aubbies are throwing all of their self esteem on his shoulders, but he's grown on me.

1 person hates him, 1 person loves him, most of us saying he seems like a good dude who does good stuff and rightly gets recognized for it.
