Mettenberger takes the next step

Coach Les Miles "high" on his "5th year senior's improvements".

Apparently he has really started to improve due to "reps" and Cameron's guidance on improving mechanics and decision making.

So my question is: Does Mettenberger finish in the top half of the SEC in at least one of these stats, and which one: TD, QBR, completion %, TD/INT ?

For reference: Stats & SEC Rank from last year:

Comp %: 11th
Yards: 8th
Passing Eff: 11th
TD's : 10th
TD/INT: 11th

Rephrase: What is the window for LSU's potential Record at the end of the season, if he improves to 7th or better in a few of those stats.

How does the #2 team in the West surprise people other than beat Bama?

No. LSU is not an underdog and therefore people surprised by them being good are dumb. LSU will win 10-12 games and be in a good bowl

Yes, we throw A&M a surprise birthday party...in Mike's cage.

Top Half? I would hope so.

Not a flame. There is no doubt LSU will have the talent, but their schedule is stacked, and there's just too many chances to drop games.

When I say surprise i'm not meaning on the field, I mean have a surprising record.

No one seems to think they can go undefeated, but if Mettenberger improves can they?

If Mett has a good 2nd year as a starter under a new OC that is installing a more up tempo offense with more than 1 look at each setup, then yes. LSU could win every game on its schedule.

Is that likely? No. Our offense has had issues the last few years with getting setup and snapping the ball before getting a delay of game penalty. The uptempo should help that by at least decreasing the dead time between snaps, but if we see more false start penalties I won't be surprised.

The only surprise would be losing more than two games. Doe anyone seriously think LSU suffered a major decline in talent from last year???

Well, anyone who actually watches college football.

He has a good line around him and talented skill players. I'd be surprised if he isn't a lot better this year after playing for a full year.

Exactly what was said before the 2011 season. That schedule was ridiculous

I remember JJ's Payton Manning camp and the effusive praise he received. Preseason brings out the best.

Exactly. I have hopes, but they are tempered by previous false preseason claims of greatness.

He probably just happens to look good in practice against a defense depleted by early draftees.

Just think LSU gave bama the game on the last drive, after statistically dominating them all night. We had a qb who finished 11th and 12th in all most every category. slight improvement=championship. How bout a ban bet for all A&M fans that do not have a vag?
