i have no issue with bama fans typically but i know for a fact that is not true for 100% of you. i used to know one well and it was a sure fire way to start an argument if you tossed out 'gump'.

I've never heard Gump IRL. I can tell you there are diehard lifelong Bama fans who have never heard the term because they don't browse the message boards. It's almost exclusively an internet thing

Montgomery is sometimes referred to as the Gump and that slang was popularized by the Montgomery rap group Deuce Komradz in the early 2000s.
But to the OPs point, I don't give a shite if somebody calls me a Gump. Forrest Gump was a great (fictional) American. You think people in Philly would give a shite if you called them Balboas?
