Since they joined the SEC they have played Alabama twice and got that arse kicked twice, a physical mismatch both times.

That is a slight mischaracterization of what was being implied. The caller probably just meant that Missouri is the absolute best team in the eastern division of the SEC. That doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon, either.
They play good football and dominate the East and frankly, they just win.
So, they do deserve respect. And of course no team in the SEC has or ever will garner the same overarching regional and national respect that Alabama does now and really, always has.
But, yes, they should receive a tremendous amount of respect. This is not a sorry team whose best years are long, long behind them, like Tennessee.

The caller is right in a way. Alabama doesn't deserve any respect for the way they've played the last two years. All they have done is shite the bed in big games and embarrass the SEC in big out of conference games.
