Anybody know how expensive the cabs are in New Orleans. Going to be there on friday and really don't feel like driving around beforehand and risking the DUI. Anyone from there with any advice/tips to share?

Walk. That's my advice. Just don't carry wallets or purses. The cabbies in NO will casually get stuck in traffic, and drive you around the city for no damn reason other than to get the fare up. If you're wanting to go to uptown just take the trolly.

I see where they will drive you from N.O. to Mandeville / Covington.

So do they ride their little scooter over the Causeway?

if you stay outside the city you can not get the same cab that takes you to the game to come pick you up after the game.

We had to stay in Metairie in 2001. The cab driver who drove us told us he could not come back and pick us up after the game.
Only the NO based cabs can pick up at the Dome.

The cab from Metairie to NO was at least $15.00 cheaper (on a $30.00 ride) than the NO cabs leaving the Dome.

They have a line where the cabs pick up after the game with a cop stationed to keep the peace. It turned in to a free for all with people who were not in the line jumping in cabs before they got to the pick up point.

In general "cab servics for the Sugar Bowl" sucks!
