Both of these sentences are giant assumptions. If she is acquaintance with the accused, she could've been less than helpful and done less than her job requires as well.

Why on the earth would 27 sexual assault complaints by UA students only bring 2 arrests? I could understand 10 arrests maybe. But to say that over 90% of the complaints are unfounded is astounding

Lack of proof.

False claims.

"Victim" was drunk and doesn't really remember what happened.

There's plenty of reasons for few arrests.

I'd think it's a good thing that you can't be arrested just because someone walks into a police station and says you did something.

If you read the link from the Washington Examiner, you would see that that is about average across the nation.

Like someone said, you can't be arrested just because someone said you did something.

I can't accuse you of robbing me without proof or evidence. An accusation doesn't warrant an arrest.

It said 1 out of 5 rape claims are false.

In Tuscaloosa, 25 out of the 27 claims were apparently false. Where is the continuity here?

No shite. If the due diligence by the police department only yielded 2 arrests out of 27 sexual assault complaints, then I'd have to accept it. However, the enormous discrepancy between the complaint/ arrest ratio suggests that both parties, the victim and the accused, are not receiving the due justice they deserve.

Yes, 1 out of 5 are false. It doesn't mean the other 4 are proveable.

I can sort of see Buzzfeed's angle here. This story doesn't get clicks unless they can drag UA into it somehow.

So having a sexual assault examiner at the local hospital situated right across from the rec fields would have helped those 27 girls provide proof would it not?

Wouldn't have mattered. Alabama law requires the victim to fight back. If they didn't scratch his eyes out and/or kick him in the nuts then it wasn't rape.

You are trying way too hard to throw rocks at Bama. The numbers you are using would be typical throughout the State. Including the barn.

It should matter because these examiners are critical to providing justice for the girls that are raped. Finding bruises shouldn't be the only parameters to proving rape... wtf?The Alabama law is so archaically fricked up, that it protects rapists if anything.

Said no one ever. Graduated from there after all.

The numbers are absurd no matter how typical they may be.
