If you assume his father (a cop) would have given him advice, why would you think it likely that he told him it's a good idea to perjure himself? Not saying it's impossible, but highly improbable... Would be curious what the motivation would be? I will admit I haven't spent a ton of time following this embarrassing series of events, but given the comments very evasive nature and what I would consider a lack of motivation to lie here, I'm having a hard time buying that this wasn't said, even if it's lacking context.

What are you talking about? When did I say it's likely his father told him to lie under oath. All I'm saying is that just because his father is Law Enforcement does not mean the kid is any more honest than anyone else.
How can you talk about a lack of motivation when you said yourself that you haven't followed it? No one has any idea what the kids motivations are.

Yep - same as preacher's kids.

True but unless the kids end game is a civil suit and a hope at a cash settlement (which would seem extremely unlikely given the lack of substantial evidence - like a third party that overheard this comment) what could possibly be this kids motivation to place himself in the middle of a shite show like this lawsuit?
Seems pretty likely that BJ is screwed!!

Consent is not one of those things.

I guess you could take an angle that, on average, DIV-I head football coaches have far more integrity than first-responder law enforcement so let's tip all scales in that direction.
This is absurd. Why are you assuming what I take angles on? You gathered all this based off one sentence I posted?
All that aside, I'm talking about what is or is not probable. And of course most any father would advise his son in a way that would serve his son's best interest!
What you seem to be implying is that a given, respected career law officer would think advising his son to violate a federal law is the best-interest path while a D-I head football coach is more probably to be above reproach.
Riiight.

There is a huge difference between issuing a statement claiming that you didn't do something and a legal federal affidavit.
Hell, Butch can claim that there are pink unicorns... but does he have the coconuts to issue a legal swore statement that he did not say those things...
This is the same coach that 'suspended' one of his football players for a few weeks for another rape allegation, but welcomed the player, Lane, back on the team and called him a ' success story'.
