Derrick Henry's numbers are greatly inflated by cupcake games. I just checked his stats against Tennessee, State, Arkansas, Ole Miss and LSU. His best game was sixty something yards against Tennessee. His next highest total in those games was 30 something yards

What about Fournette? He had 140 against Florida, 113 against Ole Miss, and 80 against Bama, three of the better defenses in the conference? Your boy D'haquille Williams? He has 3 games with more than 4 catches. It's not Henry's fault he has 100 fewer carries than your starting running back. He's a big back that averages over 5 ypc in the SEC. That's pretty solid IMO.

Duke has missed the last 3 games and he still only has a hundred less receiving yards than Fournette has rushing yards and the latter has played every game

Heisman Trophy candidate Nick Marshall is 6th in the SEC is pass efficiency.

He is behind :

Barely over 4 yards a carry is pretty awful for a 5 star recruit and a kid even Cecil Hurt said was a first round draft pick before the season.

so if Duke was able to catch for his average over those 3 games, he'd have about 50 more yards than a true freshman that wasn't starting the first half of the season.

Yea, very Nick Marshall of him to underperform compared to expectations.

4.7 is barely more than 4? That's some creative rounding down. Well done

Same as "he had around 60 yards vs Tennessee" when he had 77. Whatever, just a rounding error no big deal.

You can't be a bust as a freshman unless you are kicked off the team or transfer IMO.

You have to remember, Alabama is different. 5 stars for other schools are expected to contribute immediately. In Tuscaloosa, you have to wait in line behind all the other 4 and 5 stars to get playing time.

Too soon for these two.

Answer: Not enough time to see; nobody should truly expect a true freshman to come in and compete right away. 99% of them aren't ready. That being said - if you go back to 2012 looking only at the SEC, probably would start with

5* Alabama DB Eddie Williams: Kicked off team after 2nd degree robbery; had sex with high school AD. Don't remember him being good.

5* Georgia S Josh Harvey - Clemons: Kicked off the team

4* A&M WR Thomas Johnson - nervous breakdown

4* Georgia RB Keith Marshall - injury prone

4* Texas A&M DB DeVante Harris

4* Georgia DT Jonathan Taylor - Felon

Georgia - Felon U?

He was good at committing crimes though.

It was originally 4.2 against SEC teams. My original post was about how much he has sucked against SEC defenses.

He went back and edited it to add West Virinia to make the numbers look better. They might be a power 5 team, but their defense has never stopped anyone since Holgersen has been the coach

Actually they are right in the middle of the pack in rushing defense. Auburn gives up 143 a game. Georgia gives up 155 a game. Tennessee gives up 165. WVU gives up 165.

you were clearly talking about Fournette in this post

Fournette is averaging 4.7 ypc, not barely over 4. He also has 3 100 yard games against good SEC defenses. If you were talking about Derrick Henry, he wasn't a 5 star recruit, not on Rivals at least. Also, if you were talking about Henry, he's averging 5.1 ypc, again not barely over 4.

And as someone else has said, it's really hard ever to call a true freshman a bust.

Whatever the case, you're ignorant

SEC Backs vs SEC defenses
D. Henry (UA) - 4.28 ypc
L. Fournette (LSU) - 4.27 ypc

Henry hasn't been great this year, he has a lot to learn. But he also has not been a "bust". And Fournette has been good as well.

No, I wasn't. Look who the post is addressed too. Cecil Hurt is an idiot that works for the Tuscaloosa News. Why would I mention him in a post about Fournette

Oh yeah, I also left off OJ Howard. Cecil Hurt also said he was a first round drat pick, and he only had 6 receptions after 10 or 11 games
