Does Auburn steal another top player from the state or does Arkansas keep him. Malzahn vs Petrino.

Auburn is going to take 2 DTs out of Whitaker, Thornton, Jones. We have 6 spots left and might greyshirt the kickers giving us two more spots. Only have 1 DT in Kenneth Carter right now.

Whitaker is just about a lock, and I've heard good things about our chances with Jones and Thorton.

Excuse me as I post an emoticon of a dancing banana:

First, only the top twenty goes towards a point toatal for a recruiting ranking, at least according to Rivals. Second, if Auburn signs well over the 28 limit imposed by the SEC, it will be interesting. From the sound of it, they might sign even more than the 32 Alabama signed in the 2008 class, which was well before this SEC rule.

we will sign 33 but 5 count to last year and they enroll this week so 33-5=28 for you Bammers and that is the limit. Bammers do not have any counting back to prior year. Look at Rivals commit lists. Auburn shows 5 as already signing letter of intents. Bama has none.

Actually Alabama can backcount their three greyshirts enrolling next week. Only 22 enrolled from the 2009 class, this past August. Regardless, I think alot of people are still wondering how the 28 signing limit works. Is 28, just 28, or can you really use greyshirts in this equation? All things being fair, those questions are as legitimate as those posed for Alabama signing 32 in 2008.

Even more funny is that it was Auburn's suggestion for this rule and they will be the first to break it.

In all honesty CP, they didn't need to over sign like AU. Just sayin.

If a school signs more than 28, which Auburn seems likely to do, greyshirts or not, are they not breaking the rule the SEC put in place? If that's the case, what does the rule even matter? It seems there wouldn't be any punishment for it, because none was ever mentioned when the rule was put in place.

I'm with you capstone. This 28 rule is the most confusing thing out there this year.If the conference is going to set a limit then they should set a limit. There are loopholes everywhere with this #.Auburn isn't doing anything wrong but if they can sign 33 with 5 counting to last year then what is the point of the 28 rule. It's not going to matter in the long run because with everyone signing 28 ther will be no room for anyone to backcount in the future. Those 3 extra guys still have to greyshirt and count to next year so it will limit #'s in the future.I'm still trying to figure out how Bama is going to fit this year's whole class in with their very close #'s pertaining to 85.i'm sure it will work out but eventually you guys are going to have a small class.I've heard next year is probably the year with 15-20.You never know with Saban.he gets it done so all's well.

Auburn's only planning on taking 28 that will be a part of this upcoming class. Pretty much all of our juco guys except for Bono, plus Curry and Sanders are back counting to last year's signing class. So because of that, with the 27 we've got right now, 5 of them back count which puts us at 22 for this upcoming class. We'll take 6 more, and I am going to bet that our 2 kicker commits will greyshirt, and that Richardson is rumored to not commit. Plus, there's bound to be a little more attrition after that.

Now, from there, we're looking to take 6 more in this class. I believe that we'll end up with one of Thornton, Whitaker and Jones, either Ken Adams or Corey Lenoimer, hopefully Latt, I think we'll sway Mack, and I'd love for us to pull Vic Beasley, but I don't think that'll happen.

of the 27 current commitments, five will be enrolled come Spring semester and count back to the 2009 recruiting class (AU only had 20 make it in, leaving five available spots).

Those five: Sanders, Curry, B. Mosley, Gayden, and Newton.

These guys will not affect 2010's 28 scholarship rule... PERIOD. We are not breaking rules, just simply filling out 2009's remaining scholarships.

Chances are Arkansas' new DL coach, Caldwell is now all over Jones. Caldwell is a proven recruiter, I look for Jones to have a hog on his helmet next fall.
