I have always had good luck employing UGA grads. Unlike their some, they know their place.

What he is doing right now is 110% what Auburn basketball needs to start growing as a program. He's generating excitement in all of the right ways and I guarantee you that Auburn Arena will be full for a basketball game for the first time next year.

Yep. Auburn basketball needs eyes on the program and butts in the seats. Pearl gives you that immediately. Those two things will make the most important thing (actuall winning games) easier to accomplish.

Most of the time a program like Auburn basketball has an uphill (and circular) battle because you usually have to start winning first and then you get recruits interested and fans coming to the games. However it is hard to win when you don't have the recruits and fan support in the first place (which you can't get because you aren't winning). You find yourself in a circular pattern of failure.

I think Pearl gives Auburn the ability to break that pattern and immediately get interest from recruits and fans without having to win first.

Doesn't Pearl possess a lot of qualities Aubie's hate about Bielema?

Both are fat and oustspoken. Bielema doesn't cheat though.

And Pearl will be thrashed if he has a bad first year no matter the circumstances he inherited.

Pearl is just old man out of shape. Bielema is obesity, heart attack waiting to happen, falls down while simply walking fat

I am pretty sure the only thing we (or at least I) hated was him trying to backdoor a rule that had no evidence to support his reasoning nor putting it up for debate.

Bielema is fat and that is just funny. Don't hate the guy for it.

Why do you think we hate Bielema because he had a bad year? Personally I think he should have done better for Arky, but I don't hate him. Pearl has already brought much needed attention and excitement to our program. We have already won in that regard.

In all I guess I can't speak for all Aubies, but the only thing I don't like about Bret is the whole HUNH thing. Not even that he wants it changed, but the way he went about it.

You vastly overestimate the fanbase's basketball expectations.

We haven't been to the Dance in a decade. We had 3,000 people (officially... Ha.) show up for an SEC game against South Carolina towards the end of the season. Students showed up for the Alabama game, watched the Iron Bowl trophy presentation at halftime, and left. Every home game against Kentucky has more royal blue in the stands than navy*.

If there's one thing that Auburn is willing to give a basketball coach, it's time. Barbee was fired after four years because there was negligible improvement from one year to the next, and though he could recruit, no one liked him and he ran off just about every talented player on the roster.

* There's also a lot of Kentucky fans on campus because of the vet school, but that's beside the point

If he does the exact same or worse from last year, he would deserve criticism.

Color me shocked that Arky fans were so butthurt about this hire. The difference is Auburn fans don't talk non-stop shite about how great their basketball program is.
