Nowadays, if a kid gets an offer and says "yes" on the spot, the school isn't going to be like "sike!" No school gives an offer to a kid they don't want.

Tennessee has turned down two kids this cycle with "offers" who have tried to commit publicly.

Signing day gets bigger and bigger every year, wall to wall coverage on multiple networks. It's second only to the NFL draft in its niche. Its not going anywhere.

. Some schools mail 60+ offers when they can only take 22 kids. If under Pelini's plan, 26 of them came back and accepted the offer, that school is fricked

The kid doesn't go ahead and sign the paper as soon as he gets it in the mail. He'd still have to inform the school and all that jazz. A school could send 60 offers while only being able to take 20 now AND under his scenario.

So I guess the next logical rebuttal is "well, that would make schools more deliberate with who they offer so they couldnt' just send out 60. They'd have to send out around 20 to make sure they have room". Well...what if those kids drag the process along and February comes around and they only have like 2 commits? What if there are kids elsewhere in teh country that are simply dying to go there and WANT to go there, but can't becuase they only handed out 20 offers.

I don't know...maybe I just don't like change but I just feel like this is some radical process that really isn't necessary at all. You can only have 85 on the roster, and you can only take a given number (whatever that is based on your team numbers) per year. I don't see a need to make sweeping generalizations to appease one or two schools.

Now if he can get rid of this type of circus when a kid signs.
If not, at least make English subtitles a requirement

My personal favorite.

I don't like it because the top end kids are going to take their time still to decide and not being able to offer a lower tier kid til the last minute because you wiffed is going to be chaotic in nature.

It would promise a lot and offer nothing to a certain regiment of recruits.

Of course he does, because he's a shitty recruiter (as HC) and he's lucky he still has a job at Nebraska. He's not had one season with less than 4 losses in his 6 seasons coached there.

Nobody extra great picks Nebraska on signing day anymore.

But I'm fine with rules to make it less of a spectacle where kids are pulling out animals and 50 different hats and all that.
