It is on odd mix of raw athletic ability (Bo) and success at a particular sport (Dale).
For the current matchup, Jackie Robinson was an excellent player and a very important person b/c of his breaking the color barrier, but IMO Willie Mays had a much more accomplished career.
I agree Jim Thorpe should be a choice.
